    Ordered MT4G: Android Newbie questions

I'm a long time Nokia user, finally switching to Android with my MT4G. Is it still pretty much the Wild Wild West, or are there FAQs for noobs like me who want to get the most out of their phone?

Also, what do you consider to be the basic apps that you'd want on a phone like the MT4G?

    Thanks for your time!

you are ballsy for posting this question, haha. Anyhow, really depends on what you plan on using the phone for. Pandora is a must if you have never used it now is the time, no reason to load your phone with mp3's when you can use pandora. also, you should add visual voicemail to your account and take advantage of that. Just download what you think you'd like and remove the apps you dont want. Anyhow enjoy the phone be prepared to charge it alot out the door
i've done so much, with so little, for so long, that i'm intitled to do nothing at all.

I am an E63 convert to the MT4G the biggest change for me is the charging constantly charging this phone where my E63 I could use it heavy all day and night and never had to plug it in. It is worth the hassle, I will never go back to a non-touch phone again.

I don't see what's ballsy about the question at all. It's a simple question as I make a major change from an outdated platform to a newer/better one. However, I see that you are an iZombie so I suppose I understand the passive aggression.

I'll look into visual voicemail and yes, I was aware it was a battery hog before I got it. I specifically chose it for the Swype capabilities, as I have never had a phone with an integrated keyboard (always used a bluetooth 3rd party board) and wanted to be able to blog and text comfortably

Yes, even with it's battery limitations I find that I love the MyTouch. I could have gotten a more Android Vanilla phone, but I wanted the Swype, having been an early adopter of the Handspring PDAs and enjoying Graffiti, Swype is the logical successor to it. As for the Android platform - Nokia in its heyday was very close with all of the apps available and the general openness of their unbranded phones, but their OS didn't keep up.

Haha, most people would jump on you for not searching and finding the answer to your broad question that has been more then likely asked thousand of times before. Anyhow, you should dump the stock messaging app and use handcent.... so much better.... plus you can make your messaging threads to look like an iPhone, lol.
