Anyone ever find this? Looking myself...looks like another I'll have to be the first to do...

    Same

I know this was a few years ago but I was wondering if anyone has replace their screen or has a video of replacing it since I need to do the same. Thank you.

I cracked my LCD and bought a replacement from ebay. I found that the disassembly for the shine 2 was pretty much the same as the shine 1. The biggest hassle I had was getting the LCD connector threaded back through the slider mechanism.

I replaced my Shine 1 screen until I can fix my Shine 2 but I don't find them similar to take apart at a certain part. I'm more worried about breaking something since i'm fairly new at this. After a certain point(After taking the boards off.) I don't know what to do. By chance can you make a video please?

If only up before taking the LCD connector out so you won't have to go through the hassle again if it's no problem.

Yeah, sorry. It's my only AT&T phone so I don't want to chance breaking it again. Also, the LCD replacement for the Shine 2 GD710 came with only one plastic pry tool that I mangled so badly trying to figure out where to pry things that I threw it away when I was done.

From my memory, I started by removing the metal back case, all the cards, and then removed the 6 screws from the back. I also slid open the phone pretty early in the game and lifted the slider mechanism spring off the peg that you can only access when the phone is slid open (not necessary to do this quite so soon). There are several small press-on antenna wires that you need to pull off and the large ribbon connector to the front screen is similar to the shine 1 video in shape and how it gets pulled off. I believe I had to carefully pull up (and ultimately tore through) a few pieces of metal grounding tape that held the motherboard sandwich as well as a few pieces around the screen. I also had to pry around the edge of the keyboard to release most of the body from the keyboard and slider attachment point. There are two screws that securely hold the display housing together that you access from the back of the device by having the battery out and having it slid open. I think the rest of the plastic housing at the back of the display was held in by some clip mechanism that pulling/prying on ultimately opened up.

There were a few other ribbon connectors in there too but I can't recall the layout of the boards all that well at this point.

My biggest problem was in threading the connection back from the display to the inside of the phone. You get to a point where you need to push the connector and wire through a slot in the casing and then need to pull to complete getting it through. My recollection is that the connector fits best through the gap if turned 90 degrees and it just seemed like I was going to slice through the ribbon on an edge or needed a third hand to pull on the connector. In retrospect, I probably could have done something inventive like thread a 1 cm piece of tape through and wrap it around the connector end and use that to help pull the ribbon through.

If you want we can exchange e-mails and I'll do my best to respond to any questions/pictures you send along the way but if you have a set of tiny eyeglass/watch screwdrivers, a plastic pry tool, and the replacement LCD from e-bay it's just a matter of going slowly and having a large work surface and way to keep track of the tiny screws you remove (I ruffle a piece of paper and then put the screws in ruffles one "layer" at a time).

Sorry that i'm replying back so late when you're being very helpful with my problem. I very much appriciate it and thank you very much for you're time. If I had a camera I could use to take pics, I would like to exchange emails, yet sadly I don't. I have read over this a few times though and realised that you said you took the slider plug out. May I ask how you did that if you still recall how you did? It does seems like after the sliders out of the way the rest should be easy. Again, sorry for the late reply and thank you very much.
