So, thinking about getting a G2 and I'm interested in Simple Mobile as well. These two play nice together?
3G Speeds? Stuff like that?
Thanks for your time and answers folks.

Well this MVNO company does use T-Mobile's network and does claim you can get 3G speeds. They offer a data plan so on paper this would work however you first need to unlock the G2 first as I am very sure that even though the network is the same a T-Mobile(i.e. Simple is using T-Mobile's network) phone will still need to be unlocked
The G2 doesn't need to be unlocked. Works fine with a Simple Mobile SIM. Only thing you need to do is muck with the APN settings for Simple Mobile.
You'll get 3G speeds in 3G areas.

Which I'm having trouble with. The APN setting with the SIMple SIM don't work for data right off the card. I can use the phone and texting just fine, no data.
The settings are located at Settings, Wireless Networks, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names. When I created a new one as per SIMple Mobile's website instructions, it requires that the MMC and the MNC remain blank but it won't let me do that. It says it requires both to have two or three digits in each field.
These are the SIMple Mobile website instructions.
HTC G1 and G2
Internet Setup
1.Press the menu button (on front of phone).
2.Tap Settings.
3.Tap Wireless Controls.
4.Tap Mobile Networks.
5.Tap Access Point Names.
6.Press the menu button.
7.Select New APN.
8.Enter the following details:
Name: Simple
APN: simple
Proxy: 0.0.0.0
Port: 8080
Username: [empty]
Password: [empty]
Server: [empty]
MMSC: http://smpl.mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 0.0.0.0
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: [empty]
MNC: [empty]
APN Type: not set
Where it says [empty] on the MCC and the MNC it's not set right.
Could you perhaps post your information from your phone? I'd be much appreciative and I'm sure others in the future would be as well.
Thanks a lot, and have a blessed New Year.
check the website again under support they do provide the proxy.
now even though my internet works it only show "h" from hspa for some reason the 3g is not working on my g2 or at least not showing. any ideas?

So if you're in a 4G coverage area, will the G2 connect to the 4G?
just wondering, if i have unlimited everything plan with simply mobile plus G2 it suppose to connect to 4G as well? but mine says H on the connectivities. does it means 4G? i mean since they are claiming hspa+ is 4G and it starts with H. don't really wanna call simple mobile coz it takes hours to reach them. thanks in advance!
Panasonic=>Sony Ericsson=>Sharp=>Sony Ericsson=>Panasonic(905 coming soon)=>Sharp(906)=>HTC G1
@mch: So you're saying that with your MCC and MNC settings at 310 and 260 respectively you get internet on the phone? Yes?
I am having trouble resolving this issue with Simple Mobile customer service or via the support website. Thanks for the help.
@ecuajosh; Tmo has tinkered with it so the 'H' for HSPA+ shows, even though you are technically on 3G. Dl speedtest and check your speeds, anything over about 1.5 Mbps you are on HSPA+. The phone actually defaults to 3G until there is a data load, then kicks it up. But, since that doesn't "look good" you get the 'H', unless you drop to 2G speeds. Using a custom CM rom, or one based on CM, you can watch it change under load and during idle.
Vision, 1.8Ghz modded. If it can be, it is.
