    Sprints Direct Connect

Sprint has posted a Direct Connect page. For a company that wants to throw in the towel its seems they can't make up their mind. The update is dated Nov 17, 2010

Except....that they're not going to be throwing in the towel on Direct Connect. It will continue. It's only iDEN that's going to be mothballed.

    Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.21992/22.414; U; en) Presto/2.5.25 Version/10.54)

Well I tell you what I have always tried out the sdc via my v950. It sucked but I have read constantly that the pro 700 was better with less errors. Well that's bs. I picked one up today to cure my curiosity. Its the same crap but actually worse. The reception (good lord) what happened to sanyo. I remember sanyo having the best reception on sprint back in the day but oh no not anymore. The speaker on dc still sounded underwater and the 6-10 second delay of voice transmisson in one phone and out the other is still there. You have to hold the button down 2 seconds after you quit talking so the words don't get chopped off . And the worst part if you go to a roaming area you have to powercycle for the dc to start working again after you get back in sprint service area. I'm sorry but the v950 is twice the phone of the pro 700 and the v950 isn't a one hundreth of any iden nextel ever made when it comes to dc nor is any VZW mimic. Iden is and will always be the only reliable way for ptt unless MOTO designs another network from the ground up centered around ptt. Sprint may want Network vision to take its place but it wont for the the people that actually use it for a tool not a toy.

Maybe, maybe not. Me personally, I think I'll actually wait for the new product to be rolled out before making all encompassing declarations and judgments. Of course, that's just me.

    My man,

This page is nothing new. every single handset featured in the photos are iDEN units.

It is sooooo old infact, that two of the pictures (one the dual band ic502 and the i880) are of handsets that are not even manufactured anymore....

    Am I missing something??
“Right now, I’m glad we have the iDEN network,” Hesse said. “I wouldn’t have said that 18 months ago, but I am now ... from a financial perspective.”

NEXTEL. Done. I guess that's "Life at SprintSpeed"

I read somewhere that sprint had another VOIP PTT in the works but there was not much detail about it or launch a date. I did like the voice quality of qchat when it did decide to work. but overall it had too many connection problems and lag, and both the v950 and pro 700 were not all that good. I always went back to my i365 because of it.
