As I understand it, that is correct.

So far it is only the updates of the the Motorola phones that disable / block rooting . However, it is probably a good ideal to installed Rootkeeper on other brands as well .

So does this mean if I root the Droid Incredible and install Droidwall, I absolutely have to prevent the Droid Incredible from automatically updating its Android OS ?

Thanks to both of you for your good info.

I'll get around to rooting my HTC phone as quickly as possible before Google or Verizon focus in on HTC.

FYI to those that may be following this thread.

There appears to be a work-around to restore root on .629 updated Droid 2 Globals. I have not tried it and do your own due diligence

I will talk to mike and get his input on that.

However, my opinion is that there are a lot of tangents about various sub topics in this thread so I would suggest the people who want it as a sticky to clean up and make the info more concise so new readers would have an easier time understanding it as a whole. Also it would be helpful to all to outline what is applicable to Android handsets in general and what is manufacturer/model specific.

Did anyone ever figure out the MMS issue? I can receive picture messages, and plain text messages, but I cannot send picture messages.

I have a Droid X, rooted, running 4.5.604 that I was able to downgrade to after 4.5.621

I found this post which seemed like it might be relevant since milestone is different, but applying their suggestion did not work. I wondered if some of that info should be different for PPC?

    Edited to add

Ahhh! I am a victim of autocorrect! I did not realize that when I was editing the apn in the xml backup, that it was changing "vtext" to "text" so I kept saving/uploading wrong info, even though I was typing it in just fine!

Anyway, even with that, I wasn't able to ever get the native text message program to work, but I think I was on the right track because I was able to get GO SMS Pro to work with the APN settings:
    http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
    Port: 80
    Proxy: null

If anyone has ideas on getting the native program to work that would be great but in the meantime, I'll use GO SMS. Maybe this will help someone else, too.

    Hey guys,

I am considering migrating my 2 phones to 1 page Plus Phone, and porting one number over, and putting the other one on Google Voice. I will be getting on the $55 plan.

Here is a rundown of what I will use the phone for (when I am not around a router

    Email
    Facebook
    Texting
Pandora/Running Apps (around 3 times a week around 30-40 minutes each.)
    Google Searches

I don't do much Youtube or anything else. Will 2GB be enough for me?

    Thanks.

    SS

Do you mean it needs drivers? you need to run the program you downloaded for the motoroala drivers. That will make so your phone can connect to your pc. Then go under computer and your droid x should appear. Open it up and copy whatever files you need to them.

I got the moto program but it just sits there- when I check the computer it says there's 'something' in drive e,but double click it and it says insert something in drive e,so computer not reading it... can't see the phone at all on my computer.
