Are there any firmware locks in the E73 that are not there in the E72? Can you still install apps like Skype and JoikuSpot on it? Is anything else needed besides unlocking it?

I don't know if anyone else got the fw update pushed to their phones notifying them of the new fw (44.008) but I just did it and was curious if anyone had a change log. back to connections, check this link for how WiFi is handled in relation to UMA. Heres how I worked it out, I have all my typical long time period places I might want to use UMA in my GAN destination (If you are new to s60 9.3 aka v3fp2 then you might want to google around and read up on the destinations bit of software) and then create a new destination (I appropriately named wifi) and copy the access point to the wifi destination. So as to make it look nice, i replace the "_____(01)" with "________ " a space at the end that looks invisible. The link tells how to put wifi APs into a destination with cellular APNs but I like choosing wifi or cellular depending on what I am doing and battery, etc. Hope this helps.

you can got to the ovi store to see what's available for it. joiku is there (free and full versions) and a few different VOIP apps.
I think the root is blocked in this firmware. I could have sworn I was able to get into the operating system from my PC with my E70, but I may just be imagining things.
I have seen the solution . tried most of them . but now its giving me W002 error![]()

I tried it couple of times. Can you suggest me the code again, i will try it again . Some time these electronics problems are solved unlogically
speaking of problems, does anyone have any problems with keys registering on the keyboard? i have an e71 so i am really used to the teeny keys and keyboard, but i noticed that since switching to the e73 i was mistyping a lot of things i didn't used to mistype. so i finally looked into it yesterday and realized that shortly after pressing something on the left side of the keyboard (like 'c'), pressing another key in the middle of the keyboard (i,h,r,y) does nothing - the key doesn't register. i realized i kept missing an 'h' when i was typing something that started with a 'ch' and now i know why. does this happen to anyone else? i do type fast and use 2 hands. i definitely do not have this problem on the e71.
Look here in the second set of codes
always remember to back up your data....
are you trying to connect to your own, personal access point or a public one?
does you E73 see the access point at all?

Well guys apparently my experiment was a failure, I consulted with my friend the T-Mobile manager and some of his friends and decided that there was pretty much no hope for my phone at this point. So they told me that T-mobile wouldn't be able to tell what I did since we can't even get the phone to be recognized. So i'm putting in a warranty claim to get the thing replaced on their suggestion!wish me luck! I'll tell you when I get my replacement.
Man, I thought I was going crazy when I kept making typos!I am glad I'm not the only one that has noticed this little quirk... I actually think it may be a hardware issue - like maybe whatever the center part of the keyboard is connected to doesn't work as well or something? I blame the Made in Mexico - my Made in Finland phone does not have this quirk at all!
Anyway, I also get around it by just typing slower. But it's so sad that I have to slow down my typing because the phone can't handle it... grrrrrr.
Also, to address the wifi issue, I think the phone handles wifi weirdly. I updated my firmware using my work wifi (for some reason my cubicle does not allow 3G signal - i'm always on EDGE at my desk but outside the building it's full 3G) and then with the new firmware, I couldn't connect to my work wifi. It kept giving me errors. Finally, I got fed up and did a hard reset (*#7370 I believe) and it fixed the problem. It must be something with the way the updates are getting applied - maybe it keeps existing settings in place (like my work wifi network name and password) but then the new firmware can't use those settings... I will always do a hard reset after an update from now on.
new firmware released. Just checked and now upgrading it
Newer than v44? and i had no problems with wifi on my E73...
And yes, just out of curiosity I checked my faithful E63 and sure enough it was made in finland...now I live in Texas...i know first hand that the number one mistake they made with this phone was deciding to let mexicans manufacture them...
Its 44.08 !
