so this is confusing to me ive been doing annual upgrades the past 2 to 3 years and im enrolled in the ne2 program. So since ive been upgrading every year that would mean im currently on a 1 year contract and can still upgrade every 10 months right?

also the flyer for the ending of these 2 promos says that u have to wait 20 months or u can upgrade via any promos they mail u or offer u which isnt bad because i get alot of those promos now atleast 2-3 every 4 months
your upgrading every year but get the 2 year pricing and signing a 2 year contract.

Seems that they are going to keep the promotions plans and let customer get them once they are up and do away with the other 2. Seems okay to me. At least they are not charging to upgrade like some other networks do. I like 1 year contracts anyway. You pay a little more up front and upgrade in 10 months.
v Speed Test with my Motorola Droid in AL. Droid Does (and so Does Verizon).

Speed Test with my Motorola Droid in Birmingham, AL. Droid Does (and so Does Verizon).^

Speed Test with DSL internet with AT&T(Bellsouth). Horrible.

So I have a NE2 waiting to be used on my main line and then a regular 24 month upgrade on a secondary line as the original contract has been completed. If I use the NE2 on the main line before the Jan. deadline, Would I then be eligible for one more NE2 in 2 years again? Also, what if I hold out past the Jan. deadline, will they take away my NE2 thats waiting to be used or will it stay until I use it?

    Thanks for the info.

If you use your NE2 before Jan 16th then you would be eligible for another NE2 in 2 years. If you wait until after Jan 16th to use your NE2 then that will be the last NE2 you get; meaning you will not get another NE2 to use in Sept 2012.

Ok, so they do not have any plans to take away the current and available NE2 for those of us that decide not to use it before the deadline, correct?

And thank you for the reply.

This is what my main concern is....while early upgrades were nice, I guess I could do without but the new every 2 discount was/is awesome

Well I am pretty ticked off. I did an annual/early upgrade in November to a droid (granted it was only 2 months away from my 20 months) with the understanding that I would be able to upgrade next November at 2 year pricing. Now I have to hold onto this phone for an extra 10 months. I definitely wouldn't have picked this phone if I had known this.

Wonder if it would be worth it to just put a cheap phone on my line in the year- move all my family to another carrier and then just pay out the balance of my contract.

Again...if you have a ne2 that comes up in, say, March, you have six months from that ne2 date to use it, or it goes away. Then after September 13, 2012, no ne2 discounts will be honored, period.
Low price, Excellent Service, High Quality. Pick any two, but you never get all three.

This all seems very unofficial to me right now and, frankly, suicidal if it's true. I've got my entire family there and we all are there, in large part, for the NE2 deal. I find it hard to believe we're alone. Suddenly saying they're going to drop this is just begging us to leave for another carrier. No way I'd pay $600 for a Droid. They got me to do it for $200 with the understanding that I'd keep paying them for 24 months. That's a pretty fair deal in my book.

I'm going to wait until we hear that this is official.

Does anyone remember the REQUIRED $9.99 data add on and how about 30 million people threatened to leave Verizon over it? The inundation of threads on hofo just to cry about how unfair it was for weeks on end?
    How'd that end up ?

They're not getting rid of the ability to upgrade after 20 months or the 2 yr contract price. They're just getting rid of the extra $30 or $50 you'd get off the 2 yr price. This is just going to drive people to other outlets. Really won't be any reason to pass up best buy or amazon deals now.

It is official, and you are confused.

Customers will still qualify for new 2-year promotional pricing at 20 months in a 2 year contract, or 10 months in a 1 year contract. The NE2 was an ADDITIONAL discount of up to $50 OVER AND ABOVE the ALREADY-DISCOUNTED price on a handset, of which only the primary could take advantage of. So that Droid you got at $200 would be $150 as a loyalty thing.

The only thing this does is make VZW's upgrade policies no more or less generous than AT&T's, which never had this program.

    EDIT: What he said.

No, annual upgrades require a 2-year contract.
