Nokia C3-00 - rogers pre-paid phone unable to access facebook, msn, gmail via wifi
hi all,
Managed to carrier unlock this with ease as well as updating the os from 3.x to 4.6 via Nokia’s Software Updater application, Ovi Suite on Windows. however, I am suspecting there is very serious carrier restriction on the firmware that would not allow use to use facebook, msn, twitter, gmail, gtalk, yahoo or any of the communication app over wi-fi connection.
even tried with a different official rogers sim with proper data plan and still not able to signon to facebook or yahoo or gmail. keep getting connection error over rogers gprs.
the only other thing working other than phone service is sms after entering the rogers sms center number +1705796930
do any of you know if debranding is the only way or there is fundamental issue with the come with firmware? your help is much appreciated as we cannot think of anything else. we do not intent to use this phone using the actual bundle pre-paid sim as we already have other few rogers sim to use.
tried Nemesis Service Suite but would not even recognize this phone. i can confirm nss works on our side as we use the same solution to change product id on n97 recently and able to debrand bell firmware to generic nokia firmware. i suppose this is also the only way to get additional option as the device only comes with englsh/french/spanish.
i have been searching the web and only able to find the following discussion without proper resolution.
Yes, this is a big problem with this phone, Telcel carries it in Mexico and the only way can use those apps are via 3G; in order to be able to browse via wifi you need an external application; I downloaded Opera Mini for all wifi needs and it works great
