I wonder if it's in the NDA if they can reveal whether or not the bootloader is locked. I mean I know it's probably locked, but I wouldn't mind having it confirmed.
Why would that still be under the NDA? I expect it is, but it should be rooted as was the other Droids.
Well I'm just saying if it's not under NDA then maybe Bill or Winston can let us know that's all.
I just looked and neither have posted in this thread. Maybe there still is a part of the NDA in effect? Could it possible mean there is another better phone to be released after the VZ IPhone?
I heard they the Google Market app wasn't working on the BIONIC phone at CES.
Too bad, no one could install Quadrant and run a benchmark!
=> Read my reviews for the Samsung Droid Charge, HTC ThunderBolt, and Casio G'zOne Commando.
=> VX8000 at Disney World:Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.
Was that an indication of an early software build or a deliberate attempt not to be able to compute the benchmark?
I'm guessing that this will have a locked bootloader, but I'm hoping that it won't.
The bootloader is definitely going to be locked and the data authentication/service programming will also be locked via new methods.
Loading firmware and baseband is also done via different interfaces and serviceware.
It's a whole new ballgame for anyone who wants to mod these devices in any way at all.

Well if that's the case then I'm going to wait a while to see how far the modding community gets with this phone. I've never seen a phone good enough that it didn't need some modding to fine tune it.
does that imply that this phone cannot be rooted?
Bit disappointing that it will be locked down as such, but I figure all manufacturers are going to start locking down their phones. There are some incredibly crafty people at XDA so hopefully they will make some decent headway. Really want this phone but I will keep my eyes on the other LTE devices to see how the modding community does with these new phones.
