Actually in Minnesota there is an area that is still waiting to change to verizon from alltel. They are waiting for AT&T to take over the old verizon territory
to find the alltel plans available to you, go to the alltel website and when it ask for zip code, put in something like 44805. I can't remember exactly the zip that I used when I was on there last week to view the available plans. last week I changed my alltel plan from the 2 lines for $75 to the smartchoicepack for $109. Verizon now has a promo plan that is actually cheaper (imagine that) than the plan I just switched to and I have called the 877 # to get it but they said that it's not available in my area and that my alltel plan is fine. Picture that! they've always tried to get me off my alltel plan and now that I actually see a Verizon plan (promo) that I'm willing to switch to, they tell me no. SMH!!
Good news for me anyway I just called Verizon service and got a real sweet understanding lady from Texas. It took her some time but she put a Droid X on my line of the Family 900 min National Freedom Alltel plan. I then added the Verizon unlimited Data to my line only. Everything was oked and my bill will increase only $25 a monthe (15% military discount on the data). That saved me a bout $40 a month. She also said that most of the phone people don't know or care about checking into the ways it work and just tell you that you must change plans and go with Verizons plans. I'm happy now and hope everything works on the new X when it gets here Tuesday.
Thanks for bring that up.That's a good question. After all the hassle I went through getting someone to allow me to add the Droid X onto my Alltel plan I will get one bill and then question that about cheaper data. In any case we are talking about $7 bucks top because of my 15% discount.
I don't really care if I get charged the Verizon price for data or the Alltel price too close to worry about. I'm just glad Thanks to reading and getting PMs from Howard forum members that I was able to get the Droid on my old NF 900 Min. plan. My advise to anyone trying and not getting anywhere is to keep trying and insist on talking to someone that is familiar with the Alltel rules. Thanks again for all the help!!!
