i have a question for a friend thats looking at buying a keitai, they were either looking at buying a N906i, or a sh-01b. i couldnt find an answer to this anywhere on HoFo, but my friend is with bell/aliant. is there any hypersims that would work with aliant? also, i know most Sharp phones dont have t9, does the sh-01b?

By Bell/Aliant I'm going to assume you're in Canada and is on Bell Mobility.

Keitais won't work with Telus/Bell networks. That's because B/T lacks a GSM network, which is what most of us here use. Some lucky fellows can activate 3G, but it requires a precise combination of SIM and keitai model, and will only ever happen on Rogers/Fido.

    And Telstra (just ask qwerty1235).

But yeah... without a GSM network you're basically out of luck.

Waahh what? And keitai combination? So my Telstra + FireSIM won't have 3G in other keitais?
Also, just realised Telstra cost an arm and a leg to use, 35c connection fee and 40c per 30 seconds. And that's in AUD.

    Nobody knows till you try

And wow- that's expensive. Is that prepaid or on a postpaid plan?

Prepaid. I get several hundred minutes of free calls each recharge. And they can charge as much as they want because they've got the largest 3G network in Australia and you can be in the middle of nowhere in Central Australia and still stream Foxtel over 3G.

I guess the free call minutes offsets the high per-minute cost then?

Not really for me. Calls to other Telstra Mobile's only. And like 1% of my friends use Telstra.
