This is just for fun . Until Februaray, we're not going to know 100 percent anyway. Will Vz PP get the hottest phone on the planet or won't they? Why not?
I think it's 50/50. I'd say yes, but you have to pay $600. I'd say no because Verizon wants POSTpaid users to feed their trough for two years, not a one time phone buyer (who'll probably put it on a cheaper mvzno like Page Plus anyway...
Press reports did say Verizon will offer a "no contract" option for the iPhone. Whether that will be VZ Prepaid, or pay full retail price to be month to month on postpaid is not clear.
I doubt that there will be iPhones hanging on a peg at your local Target anytime soon. It seems to me that's really not how Apple customers like to buy stuff. But stranger things have happened.

Yes ,stranger things have happened. I remember last year going to Walmart and there were three staff members standing around talking by a display. They were saying " I don't how they got them" "They cut the cord" Why didn't the alarm go off"? It appears there was a display of Apple IPhones with two display models attached to a steel cord. Thieves cut the cord and took them. An alarm was supposed to go off but didn't when the cord was cut.
I am wondering this too. I mean, they offer the Droid X and the Fascinate at a slight discount for prepaid. Here's hoping they do the same for the iPhone

My maternal grandfather used to say that locks and stuff were made for honest people down on their luck. But a thief will find a way to steal anything.
With their hottest Droid phones on prepaid, it's not impossible. Then again, the Droids were the hottest phones on Verizon till the cdma iphone showed up...

I somehow doubt the iPhone (just one phone) outselling the Droids on Verizon (all them combined) but then again, the iPhone does hold the largest percent of smartphone market share.
I can see it happening.
You should be able to use it on PagePlus too.
Home ISP, RR-Turbo WiFi, $80/mo | Verizon 4G, $30/mo Unlimited
School, $5,000/semester | Work
We'll have to see what happens. I'm sure when the used market opens up (where people aren't buying them for 800 bucks a piece freaking out to get one near launch) and prices go down, I don't see why they wouldn't put it on prepaid.
I'm actually glad Verizon brought back a monthly prepaid plan that has more to offer than just talk/text like EasyPay was.
My own digs on Vz PP is that 1) There won't be a Vz iphone for prepaid for a little while, at least till iPhone 5 comes out (possibly could be an )WApple thing, no prepaid iphone like Att).
2)Prepaid iphone when it comes out WON'T work on Any Vz mvnos .
3)Vz pp will probably improve their rates some more in relation to their few remaining mvnos like Page Plus further narrowing the gap but retain unlimited data for themselves.
4)ViPhone 5 will have gsm/cdma capability but not LTE.
5)LTE won't be made available to prepaid/mvno till it's paid for , till then it's 3G only. They want the postpaid people to get it first and wait till it's a mature tech before it goes prepaid. Same for any other carrier w/ "4G" ('cept Tmo...)

On # 3. I don't think verizon would do this.
The reason are as follows
Verizon prepaid would have to lower the pay as go rates
Verizon prepaid would need T&T plan like pageplus
Verizon Prepaid would have to lower thier cost on the unlimited plan.
Verizon prepaid would have to extend the pin expiration date 120 day for pins that cost under $79
Verizon prepaid would have to extend the pin expiration date to a year for pins that cost $80 or more.
The only way for verizon prepaid to beat pageplus is to buy them out. Which I am surprised they haven't done.
When I meant improve their prepaid plan relative to mvnos, I meant to give more then they do now but not necessarily beat the rates of say Page Plus or Straight Talk. I wouldn't be surprised if they drop their paygo rate to maybe 15 cents or so. Or their 99 cent daily rate improves to include unlimited nights/weekends as well as m2m.
They've steadily been increasing and improving their prepaid plans over the last year and a half/two years. I expect it to continue. The biggest move they made so far is unlimited two dollar a day talk and their smartphone plans.
But no, I don't think they intend to beat or even match their mvnos' rates anytime soon. Just even approaching them would be more then good enough for now, especially considering they're brand name Verizon to begin with.
I was informed today by Verizon that the iPhone must be activated at time of purchase even if acquired at full retail. This policy would negate the option to bring the phone to another MVNO. I'm hoping that the Apple store doesn't follow this policy. Otherwise, I'll have to get service thru Big Red.
Do I need to sign up for a 2-year agreement when purchasing iPhone 4®?
When purchasing iPhone 4 at the 2-year promotional price, a new agreement is required. However, you will also have the option to purchase iPhone 4 at full retail price, which will not require you to sign a long-term agreement. Note: Activation on a month-to-month agreement is required when purchasing iPhone 4 at full retail price.

verizon dont have to buy out or beat page plus. they make money off of them no matter what. there really is no need to compete or beat them.

at&t kinda screwed with verizon in this though. verizon had it all set up with there 99 cent 1.99 and 3.99 daily plans ant there 45,65 and 75 dollar monthly talk plans. unlimited texting either way was and still is 20 bucks. then at&t kinda pulled a fast one and came out with the 2 dollar a day unlimited talk and text plan. well that kinda screws up verizon they answer with the 1.99 unlimited talk. well this kinda screws there 74.99 monthly unlimited plan. if you have a feature phone and dont require a monthly plan its cheaper now to go the daily route. the way the monthly plans are set up verizon cant answer with a 2 dollar a day talk and text it would throw everything off even more. it will be interesting to see how verizon handles there prepaid offerings in the future.
