I just decided to start testing out the camera and have run into a bit of a problem. It seems that the camera is refusing to focus. I get a good image if the object of the photo is about 6 inches from the device, but anything closer or farther away is out of focus and the camera makes no effort to auto-focus. I have messed around with the setting in the camera, changed the type of focus, image quality, etc., and so far am having no luck. I can take pictures, but only blurry ones.
As the manual is in Chinese, and I don't know any Chinese, perhaps there is something that I am missing in getting the camera to work correctly. Any ideas would be appreciated. I just hope I don't have to send this thing back.....it will take a month to get a replacement.
If there's a manual focus mode, use that and see if you can adjust the focus to something sharper. Then try another camera app from the market or equivalent and see if that works.
If that still doesn't work try a factory reset. If that doesn't work then it's likely a hardware defect and you'll have to send it back.

Well that just stinks. I tried two other camera apps from the market with the same results...focused image at 6 inches, otherwise blurry. Factory reset didn't fix the problem.
I purchased the device from ownta.com....any idea how good they are at returns? Always makes me a bit nervous when throwing around this much money and dealing with international sellers. I will have to send it back. Terrible...I will have to go back to my HTC S743 until I get a replacement. I can't tell you how painful that is going to be.

I Just ordered this phone from Ownta on October 3rd. I paid for express shipping (3 - 5 business days) and already October 16th.. still hasn't arrived. This is from China to USA.

May I ask how long it take you to get the phone?

Also I read on Ownta must pay $50 for returning any items.

I ordered mine on Oct. 1st and it arrived on Oct. 14th. They should have given you an EMS tracking number that you can use to see where your shipment is in real time. Once it gets handed over to US customs then it is out of their hands and will eventually be turned over to the USPS for delivery. But the EMS tracking will tell you where it is until it reaches US customs.
I have ordered a few other things from China and find that shipping times widely vary. Sometimes takes 6-8 weeks, sometimes you get it in a week. I think it largely depends on how long it sits in US customs.

    My tracking number is EE641229678CN.

It says shipped on 10th but it's been stuck in Shenzhen till today.

Ownta tells me they picked EMS over DHL and UPS because those two carriers don't ship phones with batteries or logos on them, despite their website telling me express shipping is DHL or UPS only.

This is the first time I have ordered from a supplier, in Mainland China and EMS is so ****ing slow.

More than 3 - 5 business days $25 USD wasted. Should've picked free shipping.

Is it true EMS China is terrible service? Or just shipping from China is slow in general?

When I order phones or books from hong Kong or Japan always take less than 7 days.

    Hello community!

I'm quite new into japanese/chinese phones and I have some simple questions (sorry I don't want to read 20+ pages).
    1. Is this phone (if I buy it unlocked from ownta e.g.) fully useable (3G, Internet, MMS, HSDPA) in Germany?
    2. Can i change the language in german or only in english?
    3. Is ownta the cheapest store?

    Best regards,
    Felix

Yeah, I'm still on the fence with this phone. Really sucks that here are only two flip/clamshell options for Android right now, one having all the many pitfalls of being a hypersim phone and the other needing to be rooted for the Market and possessing a processor that really doesn't cut it anymore. Damn shame that nothing's yet come of the 007SH being approved for North America by the FCC, eh?

I read about a FCC approval, too. That was in May 2011!

Up till now I read a lot of tech-sites, which reported about this. There was no hint about a release in EU/NA so far (007sh). At least we got the sh12c equivalent in Germany (and France). But it is too expensive for my taste... also I prefer a flip-phone.

Yes once the 7218u has been rooted you are able to get market working, but there are other places that sell the 7218u for less.

Well...thought I might post my experience returning my phone. After my last post on Oct. 16th I contacted Ownta.com to let them know there was a problem with my camera and that I wanted to send the device back. I just received the unit back from them three days ago. So....a month and a half and an email conversation with a total of 36 messages later, I have a working device. They babbled something about a software update to get my camera working, but they sent the same unit back to me and now the camera works. Overall, the support at Ownta is generally incompetent, but they are friendly and eventually got the job done with PLENTY of prodding on my part. Got the thing rooted, gapps installed and market up and running.

I would like to respond the comment about the phone being slow and feeling 'like a toy phone'. Admittedly the thing is not as snappy or heavy as any of the more recent handsets released, but I don't think that is why anyone would want this device. It is the somewhat unique form factor that is the appeal here. Of course a faster device would be nice, and if you are willing to spend the few extra hundred USD and gamble on the hypersim working, then the 007sh is probably the phone for you. I find this device to be just fine for my needs, and I love the design. I use my phone predominantly as a phone (gasp) and not as a multimedia or internet machine. If you plan on using your device for much else than making phone calls, updating your social media, and perhaps running a few basic games and other apps, then this is not the device for you. But in no way do I think that this device feels like a toy phone, and it fits my needs exactly.

That being said, you definitely need to make some changes. The stock launcher is crap. I am using Go Launcher, and it works great. The stock dialer is also crap. I bought SuperDial from the market and it works great. A bit pricey, but it does what a stock dialer should do. I also loaded CoPilot Live onto the device, and it works very well with the onboard GPS. All of the maps are stored on your SD card, so it is faster than Google Maps or any other service that loads the maps as you go, and does not chew up your data. The only thing that I would still like to change is the contacts manager. The stock app is terrible, but every other contacts app I have tried does not work. I can get them to display the contacts, but if I try and add a new contact they all force close. Only the stock app works for adding new contacts. If anyone has any ideas, or has been able to get a different contacts app to work, please share.
