Being as you are going to share the knowledge to the wider community, I don't think it would violate the rules of advertising, as no-one here can find out where to buy the larger battery, and we would all appreciate to know where. Could you PM it to me first, and I will let you know if it'S ok?
I have devised a method of rooting this phone, flashing Gigi Tse's Clockworkmod recovery file, and installing Google Apps all without the need for ADB or Fastboot access. I will also soon be posting a flashable zip of a debulked stock ROM with the Chinese apps removed, and have started working on a custom dialer for this phone. Please join me at the following xda thread if you are interested:

Sounds fantastic, thanks for sharing!

Now hang on a second! I really don't think I was being patronising in the slightest, and would like to publicly apologise if I have upset you or patronised you in any way.
I have pressure from moderators with more power than myself, to ensure that the keitai subdivision, with its large ethnic diversity, remains consistent with the rest of the forum - i.e. no other language than English, and posts must be formatted correctly.
After looking at your XDA post, I am surprised. You have use bold, different font sizes, and paragraphs. What gives?
If you have any further issues, feel free to PM me. I am sorry that you feel the need to leave HowardForums, all because I had to edit a few of your posts.
As for XDA, I think you will find that they are pretty strict, no?

@hwfjunkman, fwiw hope you reconsider; either way thanks for your efforts so far, as a new owner of this phone I've found your input in this thread very helpful.
@buttermesilly, thanks for the link. What's the opinion of ownta here? A quick google search shows mixed reviews, some very negative. Still tempted to take a punt on that battery though
Just took the plunge for the battery, really can't go too wrong with 15USD. Andida seems to have gotten positive to mixed review but if I manage to get at least an hour extra that would be fine. Well, when it gets here I'll follow up.
I haven't tried Ownta, but like any other chinese online retailer most of the reviews they get are a mix bag. I've bought stuff on other chinese retailers online and have not had an issue. Although they get some negative reviews too.
I would suggest not to expect an early delivery, these things can take as long as a month to get to their destination.
A way to make a personalised skin for the SH7218U (and a multitude of phones). Supports making skins for top, bottom, sides, and inside of the phone. I am going to do this very soon, probably just for the top and keypad so I can cover up the yellowing keypad. Anyway, very neat!
Does anyone know if the Sogou input available on the market supports the hardware keys of the SH7218U?
I am trying it on my 007SH, and get just like all the other hardware keyboard enabled input methods - numbers instead of text input (and no response from the softkeys). Is there a setting that needs to be enabled?
Also the screenshots from one of the sites i went to showed an English interface. The app i downloaded from the Market is 100% Chinese. I can understand a few characters here and there that are the same as Japanese, but not enough to choose the settings i want (like how to enable English T9 etc)
Ok downloaded the sh7218u OEM package from the Sogou site (http://shouji.sogou.com/download.php). Sharp is the third from the bottom of the list btw, under the characters 夏普.
The instructions in the rar say that you should copy the .so files to system/lib, but not having write access to the lib directory i decided to try my luck with just making a folder on the SD card called system/lib and putting them in there. I then installed the APK, and tried it out. Menus are in English (yay) but the keyboard force-closes every time i select it. Also the hardkeyboard settings only have Experia X10, ME511, ME600 and Default.
Either way it doesnt matter. Still need a solution for getting T9 input on the hardware keys of the 007SH.
Can anyone find out what the keyboard scancodes are for the keys on the sh7218u? In particular; the left/right softkeys, D-pad, center button and numeric keys 0-9. I am still determined to do this by myself if i cant find a ready-made solution
I was about to upload the Sogoue that came with the phone but it seems you have found it anyway.. that's a shame it won't work though. Are the keycodes in system/usr/keyloayout? I can extract and upload for you.
I actually installed this apk and put the .so files in system/lib and it seems to work fine. Spacing (in English) is done by pressing 0 just once and T9 seems to work, although it takes getting used to since it is still a little different than traditional T9.
So, Ide say if you can somehow get this working on your 007SH tokyo_dom, it is def worth it. I think there was work being done by the same person that created the custom ROM for the 7218u, to root the 007SH. I'm not too sure how thta all went but there is some info on the msharp thread if you wanted to check it out.
One thing you can do is get an app like SNESDROID, a SNES emulator. In the menus for that you can map hardware keys to the buttons. and in doing so you can see the keyboard scan codes...
And after you do that, there is always the bonus of having super mario on your phone - something to make the iphone boys jealous
