Thanks for doing that. Well the good news is that the codes shown above are identical to the 007SH. You didnt list the softkeys - i assume they will be the same though.

The key layout files are a little confusing. The numbers in them are not the same as the codes shown above - or whats shown in the Sharp API reference. Might need to do a little more research on how that works. Where are those folders in the sh7218? Wonder if i can get access to them in the 007SH

Ok nevermind i have figured it out. Key layout files are internal, and they serve to translate the hardware button scancodes, to the android keyboard events such as DPAD_LEFT/DPAD_RIGHT, 0-9 etc

Basically, the numbers you gave above are what the keyboard software will end up seeing.

Oh and i figured out why no soft left/soft right - the sh7218u doesnt have those! Can you tell me if Sogou input or the default IME make use of the Menu/Back buttons on the top left/right of the keypad? In the 007SH, stock IME they are the softkey buttons - left one opens the Emoji, and right one changes the input language

Does this phone allow photos to be taken in manner mode; i.e. without the shutter sound?

Hey tokyo_dom, sorry for the late reply I've been dealing with a few things. Anyway, it seems that those two buttons do not have any specific function when using different keyboards. Mind uploading the the stock IME from 007SH to see if I can make use of the two buttons?

And Martin, As dom said, with it being root-able I'm sure it can be achieved, but with any other camera app there is the option for a silent camera.

Yes, there are 2 images, 2 animations and 5 patterns to choose from. The screenshot was taken with an app called Shootme, rooting required.

And it has T9 pred EN input as part of the customized Sogou Input which is popular in China. It also has the original Android input and that iWnn IME thing which I suppose is Japanese input?

I simply used Z4root v1.3, I think it's a rather old version of this very common rooting tool? Nothing's lost after rooting. I didn't read the guide in this thread, oh the guides and technical stuff you guys write on hofo...... I'm really not good at these things and I wouldn't understand if they were written in Chinese, let alone in Englsh lol~

The thing in the top right is a task managing app by some local developer, I really don't get its Totoro icon.

To answer martindesu's question, you can't mute the camera sound when taking pictures unfortunately. Ive seen an app at the app market that supposedly does that haven't tried it myself though.
