Do you guys know how to flash later versions of software into startac cdma phones?

I am using them for my main phones and my CDMA Startac 7868w needs later software in order to be able to send text messages.

I downloaded the PST program, version 7.2.5, and I have the serial cable. I am not clear on what else to do. I believe the software version that I need is the latest, which is 7654.

My phones now have 7058, which can only receive text but not send them.

Any help would be much appreciated. No cellphone stores will help at all.

I would love to flash my startac 7868w! please reply, have you had success flashing yours? Where did you source the cable?

Find yourself a copy of Motorola's Identity Programmer, look for a schematic for a mini-chab and build it (simple rs-232 interface). Russian web sites are your friend. Hope this helps...

Oh, and if you need to change the ESN look for a copy of MOTESN. It'll create a version 7058 Flash file with a seem with the new ESN...

hey, if you find all the tools you need, let me know, i have a busted ST7868 with the 7654 firmware that i may be able to pull firmware off, via "back-up" of the old firmware using those utilities. as for making an interface, if you find schematics, id like to see them, i can probly build the cable needed

Does anyone know how to find this motorola identity programmer?

Also, I have a phone with the new firmware. I would like to back up the firmware from that phone and put that firmware in my other phones that have the old firmware. What tools would I need for that?

It just so happens that the one phone I have with the new firmware has very bad reception.

Any help is appreciated. I am willing to build interfaces and cables if needed. But I don't have the schematics. Surely there must be some geeks that kept some of this stuff when Verizon gave it back to motorola? (from what I hear, Verizon used to reflash the phones, but after a while they gave back the equipment to motorola, or maybe into the circular file).

I still use a startac as my only phone and it would be great if I could get it to send sms. Thanks a lot. I will pay for this service if anyone can provide it.

Looks like I found the identity programmer and the motesn. I have to try to figure out how to use them now. Butthead? Do you know how?

I have a startac 7868w activated on page plus that I love... I'd really want to have this phone flashed for mo sms or someone point in me in the right direction to have it flashed.. I do have a data cable for it and rsd but do not know where to find the updated software or anyone I can send it to have it flashed..could anyone provide any insight
