I'm waiting for the official push...
I've already loaded a custom rom...
Just out of curiosity, who here is waiting for the official Gingerbread push and who has already jumped the gun and installed a custom rom?
I myself am waiting for the official push just to try the OS in its purest form, and I'll likely install a custom rom at a later date.

For me the point of getting the Nexus One was that I wouldn't have to bother with custom ROMs. I am happy to wait until it rolls out.
I've already installed Cyanogen 7. I couldn't wait any longer. It still has a lot of bugs but it is getting more stable everyday. Unfortunately, a lot of the new features added in CM6 no longer work.

I'm also waiting for the OTA but Google is making it sooooo hard! I would have thought we would have had the OTA by now. Has anyone heard anything new?

Honestly there are only subtle changes in gingerbread.

Is it faster, and stable?
wish we could get this N1 forum more activte.
anyway i'd say just load the custom ROM on the n1 and enjoy it. you can always flash back to stock when the update comes. but the update will be out in the forums long before it hits your device officially anyway, so really the only way to go is custom ROM route.
the beauty of the nexus one is fastboot oem unlock. its purposely open to load anything you want onto the device, and that's the biggest advantage of using an n1 IMO. a blank canvas of a phone. use it up while you have it!

I don't know why you'd bother waiting for the official push. I loaded CM7.
Once the official is pushed, the extra things that come with it will be loaded into the custom roms anyways. I enjoy the extra features the custom roms give me.
I voted to wait a few days ago. And yesterday I unlocked my bootloader, rooted and flashed CM6. Lost my patience.
Past: Galaxy S II (i9100), Nexus One, Blackberry 9700, 8310 & 8700; iPhone 3G, 3Gs; Nokia E71-2, 3600 Slide, 8260, 6360; Motorola KRZR K1, RIZR Z3, RAZR V3, V60 & Startac
Unlocked bootloader here, but mainly just use the "root power" to run SetCPU and a few other apps. I've tried a lot of custom ROMs in the past. Not that I don't like them but IMO they don't add that much to my overall experience.
If we were talking about FroYo here, I'd be all over a custom ROM. But Gingerbread...meh... I can wait.
I'm waiting for the official push. I'm strongly considering CM 6.1 Stable Mod but haven't pulled the trigger.
Android Central website says that Google is pushing 2.2.2 FRG83G out to the Nexus One's now. Not Gingerbread yet.
@Dragonstar1967, Thanks for the info.
