Question SIM QUESTION - Non smartphone sim in a iPhone

    I'm hoping someone can help.

I have a question regarding my iphone w/ a sim card with no data plan via Rogers.

I recently upgraded to the iPhone 4 w/ 500mb Data Plan. My wife has an Nokia Surge - No Data plan.
Now we have this iPhone 3G sitting here and I am wondering ... can I take the Nokia Sim, drop it in the iphone 3G for her to use as a phone/ipod etc without having a data plan. I'm assuming it won't allow her to access the internet, but wifi should still work?

    Anyone else try this?

    Any problems doing this?

    Thanks!

It should work no problems, but I believe the data connection would work and you would be subject to ppu data charges. Telus let's you but a data block on the account to avoid this, not sure if Rogers does the same.

    My New Rogers Plan
    - $35 Unlimited Local Calling Plan
    - $30 6GB Data
    - $10 Retention Value Pack - Free (2500 texts, CID, VM)
    - 100 mins LD - Free
    - $67 + tax

    Bite me Telus.

Rogers doesn't have data blocks anymore. When you try to access data without a data plan, you will get an SMS informing you that you are trying to access data and the SMS will direct you to a pay per use data packages/passes.

No pay per use. OP's wife will be directed to a page to purchase Data Passes.

    Data Day Pass 20mb/$2
