    Android 2.2 USB Tethering | Windows 7 64 Bit

    Hey guys:

I've been tethering via USB with PDANet.

I don't want to use it anymore since it blocks secure sites.

Using 2.2's built in Wifi hotspot works great, but drains too much battery, even when it's plugged in to a power outlet.

I cannot for the life of me get the built in USB tethering to work.

I've installed LG Optimus T drivers from the LG site.

Any suggestions without having to pay for something that's already built in?

Or drivers for Windows 7 64 bit I can use? Windows is having a problem getting the right driver for the modem.

Anyone with experience on this can help me out? thesmoth? lol

PS: My phone is rooted anyways.

    Thanks

It's always just worked for me on Windows 7 with Windows' built-in drivers. Not sure I've tried 64-bit though.

Wi-Fi Tether for Huawei U8100 has Bluetooth mode - much lower power consumption - not sure if it works with LG

Actually I'm having the same problem on Windows 7 -64 bit, seems that the drivers are failing to load when I plug in my USB. Called Wind they were no help, they could not solve the problem. Wind suggested to use PDAnet.

You can find USB drivers on the Android SDK page:
    http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.htm

They're officially for the Nexus and G2/My Touch line of phones, but you might want to try and see if you can get your LG detected with these drivers.

Funny enough after I installed the LG drivers, it works fine until I hit "usb tethering" It's when I get usb modem exclaimation mark.. as in just can't get the damn right drivers.

I'm going to have to stick with PDAnet for now since it works, and my speeds are actual real good on it.. I've gotten 6mbps +

Right now in Vaughan at my unit I'm getting 4.33mbps so I'm not going to complain.
