I stopped into a local Ohio Radio Shack store this afternoon to speak with a store manager who told me the Optimus was coming to VM earlier this week. He told me he thought there would be a SKU in their system for it by now, and here's what he told me when I asked him to check.
The price will be $149.99.
The phone will be known as the Optimus V (for Virgin Mobile). According to the phone's page on Wikipedia, the phone will have the same specs as Sprint's Optimus S.
The phone's item number in the internal RS system is 170-6195 (it's not available on the RS Web site as of yet).
If the Wikipedia page is correct, that would mean a 480x320 HVGA phone that can use Swype, EV-DO Rev. A, 262k color screen, Android Froyo 2.2, 512MB of onboard memory, and a separate GPU.

This RS store manager seems to be in the know on this VM phone...I'm just relaying the info he gave me when I asked him to look into his system after he told me he thought he had a SKU on it. So far this guy has been right about everything on this phone. Anyone that wants to can use the item number to ask their local RS to confirm same, I'd think. Hopefully, it will turn out to be correct.
lg vm670 should be the model #.. $149 is just crazy for this phone. hope they stock the stores with plenty because the first batch probably will sell out very quickly! I'll be there at store opening on release date , whenever its announced.
Wow. Usually I wait for sales, but at that price I'll be there first day.
This is great news. I will now be able to afford a 16g card the same day it comes out.
Does anyone know if it will be the exact same shell as the S? There are many other types of cases for different carriers. I'm wanting to order a case so if it is different or has a sticking out plastic molded head of richard branson or VM's bubble gum girl it won't fit in the case.
I'm 95% sure it will be the same but can't hurt to ask.
Seeing as how Sprint owns Virgin and they tend to get Sprint phones, I'd say that there is a 99 percent that it will be the S form factor.
Sprint version is $50 with 2 year contract so this is only $100 more. Sounds fishy but I hope its true.
Anyone know the plan's cost a month? If it's $25.00/month they will sell the crap out of them. I now I'll by one!
That's now the only thing that would make me change my mind about getting it. If its $10 more a month it may not seem like much but thats an extra $120 a year, I'd get the intercept if that happened.
If this is $150 and $25 a month, this thing will sell like madness! I hope the phone manufacturing and the sprint network can keep up, especially if rev A speeds are enabled.
