For what it's worth, nearly every Boost handset on BestBuy's site now says "In-Store Only" and you cannot do the buy online and pickup in-store option, nor see if the store has the handset in stock. Hmmm hopefully some new stuff!

new curve touch ala the ones the leaked on crackberry and a lg optimus.
previously a metro subscriber but quite happy w/ boost
I have the Cradlepoint CTR-350 (with wifi router). She already had a home network setup for her so when she moved, we just put the cradlepoint in place where her cable modem was and left everything else intact.
Adding a switch would have been more trouble than just connecting the cradlepoint to her WRT54G, and leaving it basically the same as it was.
I also didn't want to hinder the cradlepoint any by having it do all of the wireless traffic, ethernet traffic AND the EVDO traffic.
Also, since Virgin Mobile will be implementing their 5gb MONTHLY data throttle on the 14th, I might just move her to a Boost PAYGO (or Unlimited) with a Mogul or something, connected to her Cradlepoint.
As far as the new Android device for boost, my guess is the Zio, simply because Virgin and Boost dont seem to get the same feature phones, and virgin still seems to be basking in the glory of the intercept and the optimus (which for some reason I don't see heading to boost), of course there are a couple of exceptions. As far as the new BB, the Curve 3G 9330 definately looks like the appropriate upgrade to the curve 2 8530 after checking one out at a local sprint store...
Yeah those two devices sure seemed to help energize Virgin. Particularly the Optimus as there seems to be a ton of interest in it. A lot of switchers from the other prepaid options and the stores cant seem to keep enough of the devices in stock. I would not be surprised quite a few boost users are switching over too or at least thinking of it.
I myself am somewhat on the fence although not sure how easy it would be to port from Boost to Virgin (in theory it should be pretty easy both on Sprint). Not sure on the WAP proxy(over straight evdo now) and more restricted software. Also have yet to see a direct comparison between the camera in the Optimus vs the 3.2mp based BB's. Right now I have a BB Tour and would enjoy a touch based device mainly for browsing because I'm always amazed at how much better it is on my iPod Touch vs the BB. The Optimus would be a similar improvement.
Also of course as soon as I switched Boost would get something better![]()
^ Speeds under perfect tower(average is 300-800k).
But the beauty of pre-paid is you can switch whenever you want to.
I have the Optimus S and will tell you the camera is a little better that my BB 8530. BB cameras suck. I wish company's put flashes in these camera phones. And yes the browser is way better than a BB but I still use my iPod Touch when I can cuz it's bigger and can't beat the retina display.![]()
Boost is getting the Sanyo Innuendo. This phone is the successor to the Incognito.
So far this is all we have seen available.
Yeah its to bad LG left the flash out in the S will be correcting that in the Optimus 2X thoughTo be honest I haven't found the flash to work all well on my bb with the 3.2mp cam(your 8530 was a 2.0) as it tends to wash out the picture unless your in a lighting situation were you don't need it in the first place.
Hrm another REV 0 device and looks like a feature phone as well.
Boost is big on the REV:0 devices. It helps them conserve data consumption.
Virgin had to bring in a 5gb/month cap on their Broadband2Go plans because of their customers data consumption and I am willing to bet both Boost and Virgin will on phone plans next.
Yeah myself as well. Might also not be long until the limited number of unofficial BYO sprint devices stop being able to be added in for additional data savings. The recent changes with the CSR notifications can be an example of having the ability to stop them.
Those MMS notices also show up on 1x Boost Devices, it is just a note that they should tell the customer that the device is not compatible for MMS.
Not all reps pay attention to it anyway.
Doh! i think i miss understood the thread about it
Anyways it will be interesting to see what device they come out with next. Looking at the recent devices they probably didn't really need another feature voice/messaging right now but of course if they wait a few months there will better smart phone options. Definitely a good time to stick with what you have if your already on Boost![]()
