Boost is getting Lg optimum B first quarter. Shhhhhh
Sent via the HowardForums Android app
My opinion on Android...
I read an article the other day (can't remember where...WSJ maybe?) and it said the Evo 4G is outdated already
Also, check out some of the discussion in the VM forum about Android phones. You buy something, like the Intercept, and along comes the better, cheaper Optimus. Are you getting an OS upgrade to the Intercept? Probably not, since the hardware of that phone can't handle it. Is Samgsung/VM throwing any updates to the phone to make it faster? It's like a phone has a 6 month life span now
Aside from my opinion that Google wants to become ingrained so far into your life you can't leave it (like the BlackBerry LED for some), that's why I will never pay full price for a prepaid Android (and the former is why I'll likely never buy a Google product). Something better will come along 6 months later. They know how to get people "through the doors" with their OS...
From the "LG HIDDEN MENU" on the Optimus V (accessable via Any Cut):
Read into this what you will. I don't work anywhere in the cell phone industry, so don't blame me if Boost actually doesn't get this phone.
^^^^^Thats interesting!!^^^^^
Doesn't look interesting to me at all.
I've seen similar between Sprint and Verizon phones, even where the other didn't even have the same phone.
It's just a preference tab.
Also, Bell and Aliant are the same company, why list them separately?
I think it just shows all of the CDMA networks that the phone can connect to, just like a PRL would do.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)
I seem to recall the iphone having a similar hidden menu with mutiple carriers/prepaids in it as well. Perfect example of why it doesnt mean much.

^ Speeds under perfect tower(average is 300-800k).
Hmm, so what's your other choice of a company that doesn't want to become ingrained so far you can't leave it? Apple? Don't make me laugh and say Microsoft. So your choice is Blackberry or nothing?
Why is it you can't be satisfied with what a phone does at that moment? There will always be better phones coming out (I sure hope so!). If you have decided to wait until the "perfect" phone comes out, you'll be waiting forever. The best idea is try to find the sweet spot that offers you the functionality that you want at the price you're willing to spend. Personally, I can't see myself spending $600 on a fantastic unsubsidized phone, but I'd happily spend $200-$300 on a low to mid range android device.
This is just my opinion but what I think Ryan S is trying to convey is that unlike some other devices the update lifespan of the newer Android devices(mostly the cheapest) is very short i.e. the BB8330>Intercept. The XDAandroid rom is working fine for me and I'm crippled with no working physical(pickup, hang, back and menu) buttons.
I'll preface this by saying I'm not a conspiracy theorist (though it runs in my family)...I just don't like how Google is into everything, especially with regards to web browsing. Targeted ads, AdSense...just leave me alone, and thank goodness for AdBlock Plus. And I don't know what they do with personal info...one person opined that Google knows more about you than your parents do.
I'm a eggs-not-in-one-basket person. It was a huge leap to trust Xmarks and more recently LastPass.
Apple...nahFor me, it's like Google is offering so many superior products...for nothing. Now why are they giving things like Maps, GMail, Earth, etc away for free even though it costs them money? They have to be generating revenue from somewhere. Selling your personal info like Facebook?
Aggregating search stats collected anonymously (even though you're signed in at google.com perpetually)?
I used my first BB last summer (Sprint 8330 on Boost) and liked it. Tried Windows Mobile...a month later, I bought the Tour. Without BIS, it's impossible to get "addicted" to things like push mail and BBM...but as I type this, I just heard it buzz twice...be right backI get Hotmail notifications pushed to the phone, so it's 80% as good as BIS mail for me.
I used a phone made in 2005 for like 4 years. In the 6 years I've had cell service of some kind, I'm on my 8th phone. The "others" have lasted from one month to sixteen monthsThe Tour is here to stay until Boost gets the next Curve after the 9330 (or the small chance of a Style or minuscule sliver of a chance of a Bold as the next one).
So unless the Tour dies an untimely death, I will be using it for another year.
The Curves give up too much IMO.
Exactly. I saw on another forum two mentions about the HTC Evo. One person "couldn't wait" for the Evo2 and hoped that Sprint will announce it next month (they announced the Kyocera Echo on Monday, but have an event scheduled next month). Another person said the Evo "was aging and a replacement is needed." It's all of 8 months old!

Yeah the EVO hasnt realy been around all that long. Its problem is because its sprints flagship device and there are now all these new faster dual core based androids coming out soon on other carriers its being seen by many as being exteremly outdated. Then it takes a hit on top of that because its not the iPhone(ironicly not any beter in tech spec terms)

In 5 years you will have to get a new phone every 3 months to keep up at the rate it's going now....I don't understand why they keep pushing these phones out without building the phone to accept newer os updates with the green movement and all you'd think they would want to keep it operational for as long as possible so it doesn't become one of the 13 million phones trashed each year. Planned obsolescence seems to be the goal of all tech firms across the board.
