    New Optimus V hands-on review

I purchased one this morning. It has non-glossy black matte finish without rubber coating. It has a dedicated camera and voice command button on the right spine and Micro SD slot on the left. Power button is slightly larger than T-Mobile version. Volume rocker is considerably larger as well. Overall, it is a step-up in ergonomics. Photos will be posted today on Twitter.

OS looks fairly vaniilla. There is no 'tethering and hotspot' option. I will be adding notable items from here on.

    • Two-step camera button. You can lock focus before shutter release.
    • Appears to be EvDo Rev. A.
    • Got about 1300 down and 800 up on speed tests.

Can you post pics please? Not to be a thread crapper but it seems kinda odd that you bought it a week early, before the product is officially announced by the carrier even, and you said you bought it at Target when everything we have heard so far seems to reflect Radio Shack getting it first.

Before you post that I am just jealous let me explain, yes I am very jealous. lol, it doesn't change the fact that the details of this purchase seem a little off.

I did too, but the phone had been officially announced at the time and it was only available at Target which was where we all bought them early. The problems with this post is that the phone hasn't been officially announced by Virgin yet and everything we have heard so far makes it seem as though this is a Radio Shack exclusive for a timed period but he/she purchased it at Target.

It's not a problem really, I prefer a sleek look and feel. If I am going to be doing something that could damage my phone I put on the case before I go do that. By the way, seems like the Optimus V and Optimus S have the same form factor and you can purchase from Amazon silicone cases for the Optimus S for as little as 3 bucks. They also have the body glove hard case with a multi-angle kickstand for $11.

I'm not a fan of silicon cases. They get stuck to the pocket and covered in lint too much. I was planning to rock the phone naked, but we'll see how slippery it is.

Rock the body naked, but cover her face up. Remember that the Optimus S has a plastic screen so a screen protector is necessary.

    Edit:
OP is not responding so I call BS. 5 posts and 2 of them are just letting us know he/she bought the phone. Until I see pics, this is just another troll.

Some of us actually have a day job. I'm working on the picture. It will be up shortly. Are we allowed to put a link to a twitter page?

Yes, that would be allowed. A direct link to the twitpic (or whatever else service you use) would work best--would prevent people from having to click through multiple things to get to it. Alternatively, if you'd like to @reply me on twitter, I can host it somewhere for you so the image can be posted here directly as well. (@martin_j001)

Reminder: this thread is for questions that pertain to the device only, and specifically questions that could be answered by those with a device in their hands. This thread is not for asking which store it came from, how much, etc, etc. Your cooperation would be appreciated.
