I just got back from a trip from the Caribbean where the hotel I was staying at had free, unprotected WiFi that my laptop could connect to and use but my Bell branded Desire Z had problems which I never had while in Canada. I was able to "connect" to the network confirmed and displayed in the Wireless & Networks settings but when I try and use any data app, I'd get errors.

When I open up the browser and try and visit a site it always jumps to this address as well: http://wireless.colubris.com:8080/index.asp

This page has a username/password field, that the hotel staff had no idea what it was as WiFi is free and unprotected.

Anyone have similar problems using WiFi outside of Canada on their Bell Desire Z? Is this another thing blocked by Bell that only debranding can get rid of? Is this a case of being new to Android and using one internationally?
