Nexus 1 Portable Wifi Hotspot question

Long story short I'm using my N1's portable hotspot a LOT these days, only the only thing is, it's really annoying having to reset the network name and password every time I turn it on.

What I mean is, my netbook remembers a particular name and password.

But when I use my little widget I bought to turn on the hotspot, the phone assigns a different name, everytime. Sometimes it's linksys, sometimes it's the name of my home network, sometimes it's the name of my Uni's network. And I have to reset the pword everytime too, it's usually blank.

Why won't my phone just remember the info I gave it? Is there an app for this?

Other than this, the hotspot is great. Works wonderfully with my unlimited data plan on WIND (got the $40 holiday miracle plan).
You say, 'are you crazy?' Yes, I am crazy, in a way!

I agree with the above I don't use a widget and my Nexus 1 always remembers my settings for hotspot.

I guess I should contact the maker of the widget (it's called Switch Pro and I like it a lot otherwise). Don't you guys find it annoying to go through the menus every time?

Five finger presses from any home screen is no bother for me. Less than 5 seconds. (Menu - Settings - Wireless & networks - Tethering & portable hotspot - Portable Wi-Fi hotspot).
If I had to turn it on and off several times a day it might get bothersome but I only activate/deactivate once per day usually.

I use the free "HotSpot Toggle" app in the Market. Never had a problem with it. Give that a try.
