CNsim vs Mr. Sim vs iNEX

I recently bought a SH-01C that came with a hypersim.

The seller (who didn't really know too much) said that the Hypersim (he believed) was an iNex. But after pull out the SIM holder, I noticed that it said CNsim instead.

After doing some research on the CNsim, it seems that it's not bad as CPR rates are very low and it gets the signal back automatically.

Now I did some testing in Canada. I stuck in a SmarTone SIM card (from Hong Kong) that was currently on my iPhone (Connected usually to the Rogers Network while Roaming). But I got a signal OUT. I tested it back with my Fido SIM card and it successfully connects. I even manage to make a call!

However... it worries me that the signal I get is "Rogers". I'm wondering if I'll be incurring extra fees as I'm not paying for Roger's Network towers.

In any case, back to the original topic... iNEX Hypersims cost a lot more (on ebay at least) and Mr. Sim seems to be a lot cheaper, along with the CNsim. Anyone have any input on which Hypersim is the best? Or perhaps the good and bads of each?

From what I'm reading about CNsim it seems to be awesome AND cheap. So why would someone buy an iNex instead? (compatibility?)

Rogers just bought fido. So you should be fine on either two. If signal is stable on CNsim, stick with it. Not worth getting a more expensive hypersim.
If i am not wrong hypersims can't do roaming. Not so sure.

Fido has been a part of Rogers for 4-5 odd years now, so the carrier name is perfectly fine.

I personally use a CNSimcard as well. It's cheaper than iNex, more durable and very good with signal, even when I head up to campus through a tunnel.

Ah yes, I understand that Rogers bought out Fido. But what I meant was that Fido requires you to pay a certain fee to use Roger's Towers (Roger's has better reception than Fido for a reason). And my phone I use here (BlackBerry) has always connected straight to the Fido network... so I'm just curious why the SH-01C would connect straight to Rogers instead of Fido... As I recall Fido runs GSM too right?
    I love my phones

I am not sure about the roger's - fido fees. If you are really worried, you can manually select the network you prefer to use with.

@Xeph I don't think that's an issue. There was another member here before that asked about the same question. It turned out that it was a non-issue.

I'm assuming this is in regards to the Fido card on Rogers Network. I hope it'll be non-issue cause I don't want extra charges put on my bill.

Do you happen to know why it doesn't just show Fido instead of Rogers?

    But thx for the info!

It's supposed to say ROGERS because that is the PLMN setting on the keitai. So don't worry.

As to Roaming with HyperSIM, it is possible if your CPR overseas because I used my Telstra SIM on CSL when I was in Hong Kong.

Hm.. Weird. Since it didn't work with mine. Perhaps I could try again. Just to clarify, do I have to make a phone call that is picked up during the CPR? And I don't need to put in the Hypersim with it into another phone right?

I manually checked for connection settings... but it was weird since the phone found Rogers... and I clicked Accept... but then it never made connection... and I tried again and then it said No Network...

Yep. NO HyperSIM in CPR phone. As for calling, I don't do it, but I've like never had to CPR. You can call a free-number like a pre-paid balance checker or some automatic customer service hotline but it's unnecessary.

I keep mine on AUTO network selection.

I have just CPR'ed again. Tried on Manual and Auto. Manual Found Rogers, but after I clicked Connect/Accept nothing happened... it still says no network lol.

I've never had to do CPR on my local Fido card though.

Using SmarTone SIM card from HK on a CNsimcard Hypersim on a SH-01C in Canada.

I have had zero issues calling, receiving calls, texting and receiving texts while roaming in four different countries with my 904SH. I have tested this with my HyperSIM (one of the very first models, bought February 2008) and a Mr. SIM 2.1.

Dang... I wish mine would work right now cause it won't. I CPR'd and even called (while roaming) to my local Canadian phone number. It went through... then I put it back in my SH-01C and then no signal. I manually check for network through International Roaming Settings and it finds Rogers... but upon Accepting/Connecting nothing happens. I still get no signal. I then try making a call to make sure that it wasn't just for show, but it wouldn't go through.

I tried Auto setting too as qwerty suggested, but it stayed with no signal.

But the SIM card works fine on my other phone. It connects to Rogers and Telus just fine roaming on a Hong Kong SmarTone SIM card.

The Hypersim or phone shouldn't be at fault since my Fido SIM card (local provider) works with the phone.

I am at loss what to do in regards to roaming SIMs.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

I'm using CNsimcard on an SH-01C with a SmarTone Hong Kong SIM.
