Hands-free button is not working on Touch Pro 2. What am I missing?

Hands-free button is not working on Touch Pro 2 What am I missing? The manual says it's the send button, but it doesn't work for me. I lose the call when I press it during a conversation.

PS: Turning it upside down on the desk works, but not the button.

Apparently, the documentation is wrong, or it was correct at one time and no longer is. My phone recently came new from Sprint with 6.5 on it. Pressing the answer button during a call, as the user's manual states, did not work. I did, however, discover an icon that is on-screen during a call that looks like a speaker, that does work to switch the phone to hands-free.
