Motorola DROID 3 Pre-release Thread

as my Droid 1's digitizer slowly goes bad and I lose the use of my back button more and more often... I'm getting a bit antsy for this phone to hurry up and come out.

I thought I read somewhere that had an unbacked rumor with DATE of release but I can't seem to find that now. I hate sounding like someone who joins this forum just to post "when's this phone gonna be available"..... but when's this phone gonna be available?? haha. Even if we were talking late June, that's only 3 weeks away and we haven't seen it on the FCC, we haven't seen it on any upcoming store website flyers except that one from bestbuy a little bit back, we haven't seen any new spy shots of its software (even though we have for the bionic which is at least a month behind it). and now there's rumors of the next Samsung coming next month too. anyone have any ideas what might be going on with the D3?

(man, I really hate sounding impatient... i was hoping that overclocking and running 2.3 on my D1 would make me not as rushed to upgrade phones, but this wonky screen is getting really annoying)

Did you miss the tutorial videos of how to use various features of the Droid 3 that just popped up online a few days ago? It certainly shows some of the software as well as the hardware. I'd say those present a hefty amount of information. The phone has also shown up in a couple Verizon databases recently. It seemed to me that the Droid X2 had even less information trickling out ahead of its release. Various trusted posters here have indicated a late June release. Some rumors as of late have said early July. Either is still entirely possible at this point.

true... I guess the videos did show a bit. and I know I'm being one of "those guys" by asking that... I guess it's just the frustration with a slowly dying phone haha.

definitely hoping it's not July, though. I need my back button back soon! haha

I just joined to post about this but im pretty sure it won't be released till July. And an even longer wait for the Bionic. Here is a screenshot of my chat with a Moto rep. He seemed very confident.

First of all, welcome!

Thanks for sharing, but in actuality, you're not going to get a rep to tell you that an unannounced phone is coming out soon, even if it really is. They want you to buy a phone now, not wait around for something that isn't even official yet. You really can't take that to mean much of anything. People with 100% accurate track records around here have been saying late June (maybe early July) for the Droid 3 and August for the Bionic. Until one of them says otherwise (or until there's an official announcement from Verizon or Motorola), I'd go with what they say over a rep. The folks here, when they're posting here, aren't being paid to try to get you to buy their product.

Hi all,

You don't know me from Adam, but I have been waiting like many here for a while now for the Droid 3. My original droid is almost dead, but I am still managing to use it. Hopefully it lasts a little longer so that I have no issues getting the Droid 3. My Droid likes to do its own typing about 80% of the time when it is on and the back button as well as the extreme left side of the touch screen doesn't work anymore. I did get it on launch day though, so it has been used heavily.

Anyhow, my mom works as a customer service rep for Verizon. She said that they haven't been trained on the phone yet, but that it is coming soon. Usually they get trained on the new phone about a week prior to launch. That's all I have. I'm not sure if it helps at all, but it what I've got.

Yeah, I really don't trust the CS reps to know what they're talking about. Even more so when it comes to unreleased/unannounced phones.

Droid Life is reporting a possible release date of July 7th:

Fits right in with the late June/early July time frame we've been expecting. Must be close if Gameloft is listing it as a supported device.

According the reviewer, the so-called "Milestone"3 has only 512M RAM, 1500mA battery, and of course ,the damn Pentile TFT screen. The overall performance ? One word: lagging!!!
Hope this is just the Asian version ( not very likely though ). WTF is MOTO thinking?!

I thought we already had some specs that made it seem pretty fast

That makes sense, if you bought a Droid 1 at launch, your upgrade comes up the end of June. Coincidentally, mine comes up July 7th, so that would be awesome.
