I will post a video when the next person brings me one of these to flash. The Iphone 4 was brought to me to flash, call me crazy but I am not yet ready to drop $700 on this phone.

Especially when it can only get 170k data speeds at best on MetroPCS with 1x (2G). But then again there's a lot of stupid people out there who like "hand candy", no matter the smartphone part of the phone barely works.

I spent $229 on Optimus M and now it's available for $149. Great phone but data speeds are SLOW. I can tolerate it, but no way I'm paying even MORE for a phone that just does the same. Next phone will be LTE speeds. $700 for a 1x phone? HA.

Well I am in a Cricket Market and get 3G speeds so that doesnt matter to me much. The only reason I would buy a Iphone 4 is to resell it at my store. And I am not about to blow $700 on a phone I will only make a $200 profit on. I wouldnt keep it for myself either because My Droid X is a better phone.

OK, yeah, I was talking specifically MetroPCS speeds. Cricket 3G speeds are really Sprint, yes? Or do they still maintain their own network too?

Hard to tell all those MNVOs apart...

August 2010: Cricket and Sprint signed a five year wholesale agreement (MVNO) that allows Cricket to utilize Sprint's 3G network throughout the U.S. As part of the agreement, Cricket made commitments to deliver minimum levels of revenues to Sprint. Cricket will offer products and services using Sprint's 3G network coverage throughout August 2015..

Of course a lot of people think Metro is really Verizon or Sprint due to all these MVNOs that pretend to exist as separate entities but are really piggy-backing off someone else's network entirely. Roaming agreement is one thing, having no network of yours at all is something else (i.e. Virgin Mobile)

I am not an Iphone fan at all but to say that samsung indulge blows the iphone 4 completely away is an joke, I went out and brought the indulage to play around with it and it's an nice phone but nothing special at all, the iphone 4 is still better. I just can't see why people pay $400+ for an phone when odds are there is not 4g in your area it's just an waste of money, If any thing the day metro dose get 4G in my area and fixes that crappy cell phone signal and comes out with something better then i will be all over it till then virgin mobile all the way, I also had an mytouch 4g and that was an great phone and did feel like an 1ghz core.

This is the MetroPCS forum. So, we are talking about phones on MetroPCS.

Indulge blows iPhone away in SPEED. A "Verizon" iPhone flashed onto MetroPCS would be 1x (2g) 170 kbps data speed or less. Samsung Indulge on Metro LTE is 2,000kbps (2mbps) or more. Go look at the Indulge speed tests thread. MetroPCS says maximum speed could even be 8mbps. But for now, lets just say about 200 k vs 2,000 k. A factor of 10.

So, yeah, Indulge blows past iPhone like a Porsche 911 blowing past a Volkswagen Beetle.

That's the iPhone on the left, crawling on 1x speed on MetroPCS. Indulge on the right, goes over 10x as fast!

I don't have the Indulge, so I don't know how well Metro's LTE coverage is spread over their market areas... But they have LTE turned on in 13 of their 14 markets. So, unless you live in Tampa (where Metro LTE rollout is being restricted by the U.S. Defense dept until McDill AFB relinquishes the frequencies) you should have access to LTE. Where do you live? Are you saying you don't have LTE at all, or that coverage is spotty?

Also, you know Virgin Mobile is really Sprint, right?

Lol @ indulge better than iphone. Seriously guys??? No. Maybe faster speeds than metro but thats it.

Very few droids can come close the phone iph4 and the iphone still does so much more. Thats why i went back to it, droid has too few apps and just doesnt support the stuff i need. They are still porting a lot of the app but its no where near ready. Also most android builds are too unstable and we have to get custom roms to fix all the issues.

You guys should get back on topic and try to flash this damn thing.

Why not wait to see if "iPhone Nano" comes to MetroPCS or CricKet? Reports seem to say that's it's purpose, to provide an iPhone alternative ala the once doomed SideKick line. Dunno yo.

This is opinion. I had the Iphone 4 and my Droid X is superior to it in almost every way. I have never owned a phone that I could plug into my HDMI TV Run a Nintendo or Super Nintendo Emulator on it and play video games on my TV using a Wii Controller.

Like I said, opinion.

As for the indulge outperforming a iphone... Impossible. Maybe on Metro the 4G speeds are faster, but I have wifi at my house and at my store, (The only two places I am ever at anways, lol) and my wifi blows away 4G.

4G Speed isnt everything. Processor, Storage Capacity, Apps available for the device, performance and web speeds all contribute to the overall phone. And to be perfectly honest I would take the Iphone 4 on Metro with 1X speeds over the indulge on Metro any day of the week. like I said it's a wi-fi enabled device. I barley ever use the 3G network on my droid x, I am always connected through wi-fi.

However, Back on topic now. I cannot edit the APN settings. If anyone is able to get MMS working on this thing let me know. Lets try to get this thing fully flashed.

Also my customer brought the iphone 4 back today because web stopped working. It looks as though the phone reverted from Mobile-IP/Simple IP to Mobile IP. I changed that back and web was working again. could have been a fluke, I hope I dont see him again. Let me know if anyone else has had similar issues.

Actually very good points about wi-fi. If you can stay on wi-fi most of the time, then yes iPhone would be better than the Indulge. Not better than any Android -- there are Androids that smack down the iPhone. But again, you mention not using "3G" on your Droid X -- and Metro doesn't have 3G. So, when on 1X it is painful. But wi-fi more than equalizes that.

great job in flashing one hope we see that vid proof soon or written tut. one would have to weight the options in regarding which phone is better imo the indulge being it the only 4g phone on metro doesnt really surpass in terms of hardware and design compared to the iphone 4. iphone 4 has dual camera front and back 5mp (indulge 3.2mp)so u can video conference thru skype on wifi only (cuz in 3g it doesnt work as good as advertised). and the sleek design of the ip4, come on if u had the option both at the same price at 400 which one would u really choose if presented the option. some of u would go for the ip4 even tho it will have a 1x speed compared to the 4g speed of the indulge thats all. now in terms of upgradability u can replace the battery when needed to and upgrade that crummy 2gb sdcard that it comes with and put in a 4,8,16,or even 32gb card on the phone if u want .

a question just popped into my head, now if we did managed to fully flash the iphone to either metro or criket would an iOS update just revert all the settings back to verizon having to take it to our flasher or dealer to have it flash it to proper settings which may or may not work depending on the update.
