So I'm not new to Android, but I am new to rooting, and I was just messing around in my system settings today to check my kernel version, and I clicked on the "SW Update" option for ***** and giggles, and when I clicked it, it read: "Your System Update Is Available" with an Install button at the bottom. Is this simply because I'm rooted and the phone thinks that the SW version is lower than it actually is due to flashing a different ROM, or is it that there's actually an update available for the phone from VM? Does anyone who has a non-rooted phone have this option available?
Mine's not rooted, and no update is available.
I'm rooted, but no custom ROM and it says I'm up to date and the install button is greyed out.
ah, must be my custom ROM then, I'm using the one provided in the XDA thread with instructions on how to root the phone.
Here.
Still a 2.2.1 Version, and it says that it's a stock rom that has the default apps removed.
Sprint Optimus S had an update, so you're probably using a sprint-based rom.
