3G on Android with Straight Talk

I apologize if my searching skills are lacking and this has already been addressed somewhere.

I rooted my G1 and put Cyanogen 6 on it. I have everything working (phone, text, MMS, internet) but I can't seem to get 3G to work. Stuck with EDGE.

Is there an extra step that I need to do to get 3G working on Android with Straight Talk?

Since your g1 is probably tmobile and the sim from the e71 is att you will not be able to get 3g.

ATT and TMobile phones can be used interchangeably for everything *except* 3G data service. Their 3G technologies are different.

Since the G1 was exclusive to TMobile in the US, it will be locked to the TMobile data network *by design.* I'm not sure if the phone can be reflashed to receive ATT data or not. Check over on XDA and see if it's a hardware limitation or a software limitation.

I remember my first HTC, the old SMT5600, was a tri-band phone, but you could actually FLASH it to support *any* 3 band combination. I had mine supporting both US bands, and 1 for overseas that didn't matter since I had no intention of traveling abroad.

I forgot that T-Mobile and AT&T use different frequencies. Looks like I'm stuck with EDGE. :\
