Data dead here in Maryland for the past two days. Phone, text and WiFi good to go.
Reboots & battery pulls a no go.
What the hell, I was pretty pumped about about VM until just now....
Thanks, danhawkeye. You sure stated the situation more succinctly than I did :-)
seems like my data is down a lot but i dont notice because im on wifi 90% of the time. but damn near everytime i leave a wifi area and head out into 3g the phone wont get data access without a reboot or battery pull and most of the time the phone pretty much totally locks up from the data not working. makes me realize more and more how much i like my iphone4
Yeesh, my data seems to have been solid for the past few days straight since we had our heavy storms. Since then no problems yet. I wonder if this upgrading is region specific.
I've about f'n had it with Virgin Mobile what the hell is the point of having a smart phone if when you need to do something that needs data if it's down. I'm in Raleigh, NC and web and gmail do not work, well basically anything that needs network. I'm power cycled the phone over and over again and no dice. I'm sick of this when I was with Tmobile on Android I never ever ever had any issue with data. I question why the hell they are even having the device if they aren't going to have a network that works.
Data quit on me today between 5:30 and 6:30 PM in Kansas City. Checked gmail just before 5:30 with no problems. Tried to jump online about 6:30, and nothing. Tried gmail, google maps, and a different browser, as well. No access on any of them now either, an hour later.
I'm hoping VM gets their network issues fixed - as more and more people hop on their servers/network, I find that my data is going down more and more often. I'm debating on returning the phone and waiting til things settle down. Luckily this isn't my main phone and my main phone does have data access too, but this is still annoying as hell.
We'll see how this goes. I'll probably keep it past my 30 day return period and pursue it with AMEX if I decide I don't want the phone anymore.
Castrol EDGE 5W-30 is my drug of choice.

But, here is yet another possibility, and no I'm not a nut, - Solar flare. Recently we had an X class flare the first of this solar cycle.
Solar activity as a cause isn't nutty at all, it's perfectly plausible. But it would stand to reason that it would affect other carriers as well. Has anyone heard anything about the main Sprint network having these kinds of data issues?

I did a quick look at the Sprint forum on this site, as well as some very cursory googling, and found no evidence of a Sprint data outage.

DATA down
Phone, Text, WiFi - works
At least it's not the redirect of death; but still only 4 months in and the fact that I've run into this many problems with VM means I'm probably going to bite the bullet and buy the $400 Indulge on my still active MetroPCS account.
