From the manual, "The Home Phone Connect service is not currently compatible with calling name delivery."

Am I the only one who reads into their choice of using the word "currently", that there are plans to add support for Caller ID name in the future?

I personally don't think so. If they could, why isn't it already in use with cellphones?

    Very true.

Part two of my thoughts on this, would be the follow up question, does Voice over LTE support Caller ID name? If so, then there is an implied feature of some upcoming HPC II being LTE.

The two things which are stopping me from jumping onto this, are its lack of ACR support and its lack of Caller ID Name support.

    Features Available?

The website explicitly lists these features:

What calling features are available with Home Phone Connect?

Voice calling features for Home Phone Connect include:
    •Call Waiting
    •Call Forwarding
    •3-Way Calling
    •Voice Mail (*86)
    •411, 611, 911
    •Last Number Callback (*69)
    •Caller ID (number only)
•International Calling (with iDial feature or an international calling card)

However, on the webpage "Verizon Wireless Home Phone Connect Support" it lists:

    Features & Apps
    Calling Features: 3-Way Calling
    Calling Features: Basic Voice Mail
Calling Features: Call Forwarding - Verizon Wireless
    Calling Features: Call Waiting
Calling Features: Caller ID & Caller ID Blocking
    Calling Features: International Dialing
    Calling Features: No Answer/Busy Transfer

Note one of the differences, "No Answer/Busy Transfer". Does anyone know if it is included or not?

It is on all VZW phones (unless disabled). It is simply Conditional Call Forwarding and will send calls to alternative number instead of voice mail.

As for CID Name support. It is just a business decision. There would not be a problem transmitting the information. Adding the name costs a fraction of a cent per call for the receiving party's provider. Of course this would not be an issue with VZW to VZW calls. MetroPCS provides Name and Number ID under the term "Screen It" and it works fine with any CDMA handsets, even those flashed from Verizon.

Verizon Wireless has never participated in caller ID by name. When calls are made to landlines they report everyone's name as "Wireless Caller". It seems unlikely they are going to change that.

That's for out-bound calls. I was asking about in-bound calls, because the HPC doesn't have a built-in directory/contact list from which it could add a name to the Caller ID number.

Though you do bring up a good, new, point. Unlike the landline which this replaces, calls made from the HPC will never include our own name, just "Wireless Caller".

T-mobile also offer something similar for an additional 2.99 a month one can see the incoming name even when the number is not register as a contact.

Also I guess minutes from cell to VZW WHC would be M2M as they aren't now VZW to Bellsouth in my case.

Also, how to get around not having a fax line. Although I only use it occasionally, it's nice to have when I need it and not have to go to Office Depot. Surely there's another way to fax. I know there are several online fax programs but they only work if you're faxing something you have on your computer. Any other ideas out there???

You need to add a scanner to your PC, to make it into a fax machine. As you needed to feed the paper into the fax machine, you just now feed the paper into the scanner.

Yes, just like T-Mobile's @Home service were it counts M2M when a TM cell phone calls my @Home number.

The volume on my home connect is so loud. I have 2 line phones ( landline and home connect) and I always have to change the volume on the phone. Was reading the user manual and it says you can change the volume by pressing ##1 then 1-4 then * and then you will hear single confirmation beep. I have done this and have tried all four setting but the ring tone volume does change. Could somebody try changeing theirs and see if you notice the volume change. Or maybe my home connect is bad?

    Thanks

I called them ahead of time and they told me the Verizon HPC was an acceptable and compatible home phone system. Now that I have it set up, I tried to test it. It takes hold of the phone line like it should, but it won't actually transmit the information to Broadview, so the test fails. I don't know if it has something to do with the number of digits it dials (since HPC requires the 10-digit # like cell phones) or if it is waiting for a "Send" key to be pushed, or something completely different. I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue and has found a solution.
Just wondering, did you ever figure out the broadview issue? Or will it flat out not work?

I thought that was to change the voice volume (during a call), not the ring tone volume.

Realize that it works like a landline. The phone company (now the HPC) sends a signal down the line to tell the analog phone(s) to ring. There is no provision for the phone company to control the tone or the volume. That is controlled at your phone-- follow the instructions for your phone. If you don't like the available ring sounds from the phone, replace it.
