What should I get as my first Keitai?

Well actually second, I had the 903SH when it was released in the UK years ago.

Anyway this is my shortlist after looking at pretty much all the models since 2008:
1. SH-07B tops the list, affordable at around 20,000 Yen yet pretty new and full of features.

2. SH-01B looks fantastic, good features comparable to the SH-07B but strangely costs a lot more at 30,000 Yen.

3. SH-06A, an older model is cheaper and it looks great in red.

What do you guys think? I am also open for suggestions.

It depends on if you need to extra functions in each of the models. Let's start with the SH-06A. A great phone, has a 10.0 megapixel CCD and a nice overall design. The SH-01B added a higher resolution camera, 12.1 megapixels (12.0 megapixels effective), a new 'LED' design and a slightly larger screen (from 3.3" to 3.4"). The SH-07B has the same camera as the SH-01B, but has full HD video recording, new MOAP(S) operating system with home screen widgets, IPX5/IPX7 waterproof and IP5X dust proof specifications and HDMI out. If you can get the SH-07B at a reasonable price, it is a good choice as is has the most feature out of the three AQUOS SHOT phones.

I'd just base my choice on preferred design... I love my SH-07B!

The problem with unlocking is that it increases the cost quite a bit, sending it to China and back as well as the fee for the unlocking itself..


The only thing from stopping me from pulling the trigger on the SH-07B is that I don't really like the look on the front with the LED strip, it just looks dated to me and looks is quite a big thing for me.
Features wise as qwerty1235 points out all the juicy specs it should be a no brainer but I can't get over the look of it, is it just the photos or does it look better in real life?

If looks are so big in your decision factor, then I'd suggest a SH-01B. It looks fantastic, has 70% of the features of a SH-07B. You'll lack waterproofing and HD video though.

Alternatively if you like the SH-01C, you can wait until maybe April when the Summer/Fall series is announced. Prices will drop then.

Oh yeah the SH-01C is even more beautiful and has a 14MP camera wow , I'll definitely be getting that down the line but for now a cheaper one to test out is what I'm looking for.

I saw some stickers for the SH-07B on YJP and they look pretty good, I guess that's a pretty good solution to the front for me.
So SH-07B it is!

Ahhh, I tried biding on one and the service said they might not be able to send the battery to me due to a new customs regulation.
I can't seem to find any battery pack on ebay either.
Anybody have any ideas?

I thought that about the SH-07B too.. but it looks much better in person ~~ especially the red one xDD

You have to find a service that's willing to lie for you on the customs sheet about the batteries.. tenso, white rabbit express, fromjapan etc won't do it... try one of the smaller ones -- I recommend SOS JAPAN (www.sosjapan.com) the website is a bit uninviting, but the guy who runs it is really nice, and their fees are really low!! He's sent me a few phones before and marked them as computer parts =.=

SH-07B, as others have said. Cheapish b/c it's older, waterproof (crowd pleaser lol) and the image quality seems to be a bit better (according to some users) than the 14mp CCD on the SH-01C.

I'll have to go with the SH-07b I mean if it is your first keitai it will be sufficient. Plus you can show off the phone's waterproof features in parties or something and impress people. Just don't dump it in non-water liquids haha. Save some money while you're at it too, it's the best deal I see in the list.

Yea something about the frontskirt or bumper of the first car makes it look a bit more unappealing than the second.

I prefer the rear cluster in the first car, so it's that for me!

lol These two car are the exact car but I prefer the looks of the alphard. Not sure if there is any difference in interior.
