On my cheap Samsung Convoy, Menu>Settings & Tools>Bluetooth Menu>(scroll to device)>Options>Rename device. I've never used that, but that seems the ticket. I would think this is a universal feature

I use 2 identical Bluetooth headsets so both show up in the Bluetooth list with identical names. Is there any way to rename these to something unique? I found how to rename the phone's BT name but not the headsets. I tried long pressing on the list but it only gives me the choice to connect or unpair.
Captivate running 2.2 - but issue was there with 2.1 as well.

You would think so but I sure don't see this ability!![]()
It's in the manual:
http://www.verizonwireless.com/multi.../fascinate.pdf
Menu ➔ Settings ➔
Wireless & networks ➔ Bluetooth settings.
2. Touch a setting to configure Bluetooth:
• Bluetooth: Touch to turn Bluetooth On or Off. When On, a check
appears in the checkbox.
• Device Name: Your device’s default name appears on screen.
Touch to change the device name. Available when Bluetooth is
turned On.
• Visible: Control your phone’s visibility to other devices’ Bluetooth
searches. Touch to turn On or Off. Available when Bluetooth is
turned On.
• Scan devices: Touch to scan for nearby discoverable devices. After
searching, touch a device to pair with it. For more information, see
see “Pairing with a Bluetooth Device” on page 90.
That's the device name - i.e., the name of the phone as it shows to others. As I said in my OP, it's the headset name I'm looking to change. e.g., replace the name of one headset profile with "Home" and the other with "Car" - can't seem to find that.
On most other phones I've used - Blackberry, ordinary dumbphones, etc., once the headset is paired, you can edit the headset name to give it something more meaningful.
Sorry, I overlooked that. well, it ought to be the same principle. You can't find a list of your paired devices, then touch (based on above) or long press possibly to bring up a menu of options to rename?
Nope. Like I said, long press on one of the paired devices brings up a menu to Connect, Unpair, or Options. But the Options don't give the choice to rename. It's really weird. Maybe will be fixed in a later version.
Sadly it doesn't appear that you can rename a device. I've seen a fair amount of complaints on Google, but solutions. Fairly large oversight if you ask me.
Agree, that was one of my big complaints about android when it first came out. So many standard features on dumbphones that were not implemented, like bluetooth voice-dialing. I know android had to start from scratch and they prioritized the features they implemented and left much to apps and development.
So there is the long press option but not short?
Exactly. And pressing the menu key doesn't do anything either. Oh well. They did get BT voice dialing working for 2.2 (albeit not as good as others), so maybe this will just come in a future update.
Can the N1 connect with 2 bluetooth devices at the same time?
