Just got a new MY4G and T-Mobile account but the setup for my outgoing email won't accept the settings given to me by my ISP (a local company called Wave Broadband). My incoming mail is received just fine. I've made three calls to my ISP and another to T-Mobile and no one can seem to fix this.
I've verified the SMTP server with my ISP, tried various suggested entries under "Security type" and "Server port" (e.g., SSL/537, None/25) but each time I get a warning that there's either a problem with the security certificate, the server response is "null" or that there was no response from the server. When I try to send a message, I get a notification that it couldn't be sent.
Can anyone offer any suggestions on what's causing this? And is this the right forum to be asking about this?
Thanks!
OK, for the benefit of others who encounter this problem (on a MT4G or any other phone), here's how I solved my problem. I added my ISP mail address to my gmail account (go to: Settings/Accounts and Import/Send mail as/Send mail from another address). Then in the Outgoing setup on my phone, I entered my full gmail address (xxxx@gmail.com), my gmail password, SMTP as smtp.gmail.com, security as SSL and a server port as 465.
Now mail sent from my phone arrives with a "from" as if it came from my ISP. This sounds like a kludgy solution but it works flawlessly so what the heck!
