Cool 3D tips for those with 3D smartphones

Ok so there are some of us on here us lucky enough to get one of the 3D phones - Lynx SH03C, 003SH, 005SH (ok maybe there's only 3 but still, its a start).

So you are playing the included 3D games, the sample videos, and if you are in Japan you might even be enjoying the online content by sharp and Ustream. But you want MORE right? Well i did. I want feature length movies. I want to watch 3D porn hahaha, well not that i want to watch it as much as i want to show it off, because nothing will make people jealous of your phone as much as a pair of 3D ******* on the screen!!

So this thread is about how to make the most of your 3D features. Hopefully others can add their own.

    Firstly:
    Taking 3D pictures...
Anyone having difficulties with this like I did? Moving the camera too quickly results in blurred pictures, plus it bored the crap out of people i was taking pictures of.

I have found that instead of moving the entire camera across to take the next picture, you can get a great result by just pivoting the camera sideways a little bit. This made 3D picture taking a breeze:
    * Hold the phone firmly with your left hand, thumb on the bottom, index finger on the top.
    * Focus and take picture with the right hand
    * Then after taking the start picture, pull back the right hand, letting the phone rotate on the pivot providede by the left hand.

This isnt the method suggested by the Sharp promotional videos (where they pan the whole phone across) but it does work so hey...

    Getting additional pictures:
The phone only displays 3D pictures in the MPO format. This is somewhat of a rare format since most PC 3D viewers use JPS format (which is really just the 2 pictures placed side by side and renamed to JPS). Luckily this is the same format as made by Fujifilm Finepix Real3D camera, so there are some galleries and resources out there.

But what about all the JPS pictures and galleries around the net, are they useless? There are lots of threads and tools and resources to convert from MPO to JPS, however i found only one for doing the opposite (there might be more coming out since the Nintendo 3DS also uses MPO):
    http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/stphmkr/
Stereo Photo Maker is a simple tool that can convert JPS files to MPO....

Interestingly, it seems it is quite easy to make proper professional 3D pictures, with 2 cameras mounted sidebyside and rigged to fire the shutter at the same time. I am REALLY perplexed as to why Sharp didnt include stereo cameras on these 3D phones like the LG Optimus which can also then shoot 3D video. But oh well, anyone who tries to show off one of those can eat my TV tuner/Saifu Keitai.

    Getting more videos
Luckily it seems that videos are not so perculiar, and the builtin "Movie Player (3D capable)" is able to tell that a downloaded WMV/MP4 video is shot in 3D, which, like the JPS, is just the left and rightview laid next to each other (when viewed in a regular player).

Looking on the net, it seems that that if you prefix the video with "[[3D]] " it will automatically detect it is 3D in the gallery (Use the "Gallery (3D Capable)" application to view them). I noticed that if you try to launch them from Androzip or any other file manager tool, it uses the regular movie player which isnt 3D capable, but if you put the files in the download directory on the SD card it is picked up in the Gallery app.

    Where to get videos
I am not going to hold your hand for everything here, but i can tell you that Youtube now has quite a few 3D videos (including Penthouse.Com trailers!). The builtin Youtube player/browser wont render them in 3D (next topic), however you can use a youtube downloader to save the files as MP4, which the phone can play nicely

    Youtube 3D!
As mentioned above, there are quite a few 3D movies on Youtube already, but the Android Youtube app wont render them in 3D on your phone (future version perhaps?). But an app called JetVD will let you either download (full version), or just play the videos (free version) on your builtin video player (3D Capable).

When you search for 3D videos, you will see some that display as splitscreen in the preview and others that look blurred - the blurred ones are for red/green glasses, so forget them (usually not good quality anyway). So pick a splitscreen video (you picked one with a hot chick in it, didnt you...), and then select the MP4 version from the list (HD videos are BIG so be aware of that).

When the video first comes up it will be in the default splitscreen mode (possibly due to the filename not being prefixed by [[3D]]?), but tap the screen and then select the 3D icon in the top left to enable glorious 3D.

So thats what i got so far from reading a few blogs and 2Ch entries. I am sure there are more tips, tools and resources that will come available as time goes on!

Thanks very much for the guide Mod might want to sticky this as there will probably be an influx of newbies with 3D phones asking questions like the ones answered here if/when Sharp comes out with more 3D keitais.

I wouldn't bother putting 3DS pictures on your phone. Looks... shall we say, quite bad. Blurry and pixelated. 3D pictures taken with the phone's camera is much better. [Japanese import 3DS, running os 1.0.0, viewed on SH-03C LYNX 3D]

And, uh, Cheeseus, if you don't mind, could you PM the links to me too?

I've PM-ed the two links to both of you. Please download and let me know when you're done. I must remove the files from my server immediately and it's now been 24 HRS since I uploaded them there. I will delete the files with or without your confirmation 4 hrs from now the latest.

My hosting plan doesn't let me keep files this big for more than a day. I guess I can find a lot more stuff for you from my local torrent sites (locked to access from other countries) but it either has to be less than 1Gb in size or you find me larger space to upload it.

PM'd you re: your links. I guess I was too slow

Maybe you can zip the files and split them into 200MB chunks with winzip before uploading to Mediafire? Unlimited uploads (but ea. file 200MB limit) and u/l downloading. Their speeds are pretty decent too.

    No pressure obviously

When you search in YouTube for "003SH", some of the results will show two bluish icons - one for HD and one for 3D. If you click on 3D to refine the search results, you will get dozens of 3D videos for the 003SH, which you can download and play on the 003SH (or open YouTube directly from the device).

Chances are most of these videos are included in the sample files available with the device, and you already know about YouTube 3D clips, but I just discovered it and thought I could share it.

I guess you do (with a 3D screen), or you need a Sharp glasses-free 3D screen. I have neither, so I can't say.
