    900/2100 Band Phones on WIND

    Hey guys,

So I've been told that the HTC HD7 works on WIND. From what I can see on T-Mobile's website, they also sell it. But, look at the link below...

    http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_hd7-3338.php

It lists the HD7 as only having the 900/2100 bands. WIND says that a phone must have BOTH 1700/2100 bands to work on their network. So why does the HD7 work on their network? Does it also mean that other phones specifically with only the 900/2100 bands such as the Nokia C5 would work on WIND too?

Any kind of input is appreciated, thanks guys!

Wind phones only need the 1700 (AWS) band. the 2100 is a European band. All T-Mobile 3G phones have 1700/AWS, so the T-Mobile HD7 will work. The Bell variant has 850/1900 for their network, and that version won't work with Wind.

Okay, so if that is true then how is one to explain the HD7 which doesn't have the 1700 band working on WIND or even T-Mobile, for that matter?

    http://www.htc.com/www/product/hd7/specification.html

    Europe:
    HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

    Asia Pacific:
    HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
    GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Lol sorry, I just really would like to have this question cleared up for me.

That link you posted goes to the HTC Worldwide website....

Here's a link on the HD7 from the United States website:

    http://www.htc.com/us/products/hd7-t...t=0#tech-specs

You'll clearly see that the HD7 is labelled being carried by T-Mobile and has the 1700/AWS band needed to work with WIND"

    UMTS 2100MHz AWS1700/2100MHz + GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz

So make sure, if you decided to buy a HTC HD7, that it has the T-Mobile branding and that it's from T-Mobile USA.

The HD7 is a great phone (call handling, tolerance of the low signal levels on Wind especially indoors) way better my Nexus S which I've since sold. As a smart phone its like a fast iPhone two.. no cut & past or multi tasking (yet) but a good browser very tight facebook integration and a very fast and fluid operating system. I like it a lot.

It isn't a low-mid phone for one. Read this review and decide. Ignore the number score though and just read the actual review though, as Engadget likes to take off a few points off anything without an apple logo.

I wouldn't get it, because they are essentially repackaging an HD2 and installing a newer version of WinMo on it. It also has 512 MB ram vs 576 MB on the HD2. Likewise, the ROM size is 512 MB vs 1024 MB on the HD2. So you pay about $200 more than you would for an HD2 to get less features and WP7.
If you think that's good value, then fair enough get it.

If you need any evidence its the same phone, the HD7 ROM works perfectly on the HD2 including new features like 720p recording.
The HD7 bootloader isn't hacked yet, so you will need to wait for that if you want to run Android/Meego/Ubuntu or any other OS on it.

I agree completely the HD2 & 7 are the same phone.. just questioning the price difference you've mentioned. I live near the border so "import" things like cell phones that start out on T-Mobile. On Amazon this morning the difference is $34 us $33 CDN ;-) for new ones.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. GSMarena is not too accurate then, I see. Another quick question guys, If I take the sim card from a WIND data stick and put it into a tablet or say a phone like the Nokia N900, would I then able use it to initate skype calls? Once again, your input is appreciated!
