Lightbulb Motorola Droid R2D2 or Droid 2 w/ Unlimited Service

    Im on Cricket's 40$ Cricket Unlimited Plan w/ :

    Data Default
    Paperless Billing
    Regulatory Recovery
    Toll Calls
Voice Mail, Caller ID, Call Waiting and 3 Way Calling
    UNLIMITED: Picture/Video Messaging
    UNLIMITED: Text to Mexico
    Unlimited Long Distance
Roaming Premium Extended Coverage-RU0 (which by the way when i went to Atlanta, i didn't get service so idk how this works, its a joke. currently talking to Cricket about it)

Im using a Motorola Razor. Its a good phone, but the battery life is too weak, & im wanting to get a new phone. Im looking to get a phone thats up to date, seeing that the Razor doesn't allow me to download any apps, mainly the #1 app i want, "StopWatch." I was talking to a guy who claimed he can tether or something like that a phone settings & get unlimited everything, but pay the same amount i do, on a Verizon & he can make calls outside the city, unlike Cricket. I tried getting in touch him after thinking about it because Verizon isnt letting up on there Talk & Text Plan, which is $59.99 & for what i want to do, which is everything my Cricket Plan has, Id like to switch to Verizon as well since they have better coverage & i could get a few apps, but only if i can keep my services & price range. Also wanting to have these features:

    Speakerphone
    Speed Dial
    StopWatch/Countdown Timer
    Camera
    Video Player/Recorder
wav, mp3, aac, h.263, & h.264 Playable Audio Formats (for custom ringtones)
    USB Compatible (for file transfer)

From what ive researched, the R2D2 & 2 are the best match. However, it doesnt have to be in the same family. As long as get everything i ask for, thats all need.

I need with deciding which phone to get, starting with the R2D2, & if anyone could help me get that $45 price (or cheaper ) on Verizon or not. If not, then maybe Fully Flashing the R2D2 / 2 (or w/e phone is compatible) to Cricket w/ the StopWatch app working, & possibly if i can download/use apps w/o problems. Thanks in advanced & if you took time to read this Thread

    P. S. - Idc about data/web, but everything above are must haves, starting w/ Unlimited Talk, Text (SMS & MMS), & StopWatch. From researching, UltraChron may be a fit.

With an attitude like that, you can't expect to get any suggestions now.

Pretty much any Android phone will fit the bill here.. pick the Droid 2 as I'm sure it's cheaper to obtain. There are several carriers that will let you only use TalknText with no data. The best one with the easiest BYOD is Simple Mobile and T-Mobile prepaid, plenty of Android phones to choose from here as well
LTE has arrived. The third carrier in Las Vegas with 10x10 LTE coverage

Coverage will expand to 100 million LTE pops for the first half of 2013, with the second half of 2013 expanding to 200 million POPs covered. Release 10 LTE (2×10, 2×20) will be better performing than all other competitors.
T-Mobile USA. “This year, we’re stepping on the gas again. We are making continued coverage improvements and launching an advanced LTE network

Page Plus, which is a Verizon MVNO, has an Unlimited Plan for $45 a month. Its BYOD, so you can use any Verizon branded Android (except prepaid).

You can take a Global DROID 2 with you, but not a regular CDMA phone. There won't be any 3G if you go this route.

Simple Mobile's base plan is $40 for Talk/Text and $50 for Talk Text and some data. $60 for unlimited talk text and data. You can use any T-Mobile phone with this plan.

Ima actually stay w/ R2D2, or Droid 2 as front runners though u say "you can use any Verizon branded Android", unless those 2 wont work!! i checked out Page Plus Celluar & it looks ok, but nothing about what i mentioned above "make calls outside the city", so id have 2 gt w/ them on that. thanks though

just checked T-Mobile's site but they didn't hav unlimited talk & text 4 $60. idk where u guys see these deals, but i dont! i was IMing this guy about the R2D2 who said he flashd his 2 Cricket, & it was over heating & not working rite when he tried sending messages & getting online. i ?d if he got it properly flashed, & he said they were flashing free just 2 test it, & it may b because Cricket is trying 2 stop having flashed phones work on their network. 2 me, thats dumb because ppl gonna want a certain phone (im 1 of them) that Cricket hasnt came out w/ & cant keep up w/, so im back 2 square 1 now because even if i do get a non Cricket phone, my chances of having a good working phone w/ smart phone/App install compatability are slim. i refuse 2 pay more than $50 4 what i already have. ill go buy a stopwatch because thats all id dl/install & i use internet on my PC!! dont want Carpal Tunnel

Both the R2D2 and Droid 2 should work on Page Plus. As far as "making calls outside the city" you should get the same coverage on Page Plus as you would on Verizon, as PP runs on Verizon's network/towers.

The $45 Unlimited plan gives you 20 MB of data. The $30 Talk n Text 1200 plan gives you 1200 Voice Minutes + 2,000 Text/MMS Messages + 100 MB Data.

thanks 4 helping, but it appears that they dont have unl. evrythng like Cricket. the 20 mb included in their 45$ plan counts as MMS, so thats not honoring unl. MMS or what features i want above. im still considering it tho bcause i can manage 20 mb of data, h/e, the Talk n Text 1200 seems 2 b the best value. i spoke w/ a rep on the phone & she said id b getting the same features (included n their plans) w/ bettr coverage, price & phone usage wuld b based off the plan. as far as Roaming, as long as u r not n a Desert, or a high area like a mountain, there'll b no xtra charges. it appears that not only do i believe u helped me w/ my situation, but i may also save $! i may not even have 2 tether w/ n ethng after all or worry about a contract. its pre-paid calling cards / month-month; just hope that Page Plus Cellular live up 2 the rep, the service is as good as Verizons, & there wont b n e tampering w/ the minutes like some card services do... ill switch 2 the service & give an update once i make my choice. thanks + rep

hey i 4got to check this thread; i know its been a while, but i try to keep my word. i've had Page Plus for about 8 months now since i started w/ them & they have good service, except sometimes the phone will be searching for service & u wont know it unless u look at it. i had to go close to a window or outside for the message to go away. u cant send a message/call unless u got good reception. calls break up every now & then. ive had ppl call but it go straight to vm (voicemail), but it didnt even say searching for service. u cant get the # of who called unless they leave it, so the vm needs improved. it does give details of when the message was left & lets u retrieve erased messages. it may be the area i live in, but w/ it being under Verizon, it shouldnt matter since they claim to have the best coverage. theres no contract & overall they seem to have the cheapest deals, but u have to experience yourself (Verizon phones only) to know if its worthy. their customer service is good, but a few of them are rude
