What should I do with my old Samsung T401G Net10 phone?

I have bought Virgin Mobile's Optimus V phone and have no need of my Samsung T401G that I had Net10 service with.

I am wondering what to do with the old phone. Any ideas short of throwing it in the trash?

    - Keep it for spare/backup phone, it can always be reactivated.

    - Keep it for games

    - Keep it for 911 (put it in the car, etc)

    - Sell it, sell the parts, battery, charger, etc

    - Donate it

    - Recycle it

    - etc

Never throw a phone in the trash.

Since your optimus is CDMA it will only get 911 on CDMA towers. Your little sAmmy is gsm and even not active will call 911 on gsm towers. Personally I wouldn't go anywhere with out one of each technology. But then again I am a phone nerd. With one on each technology the chances your chances of having an emergency not in range of one is hopefully low. As the guy above said don't throw it away (not good for landfills). That optimus is a sweet little phone. And a good deal for 25 bucks a month

    Recycle at any cell co.

In my town any cell company will take a phone to recycle it. The people working there don't care who sold it originally.

In addition to having it for 911 calls the phone also has a camera, video recorder and bluetooth. You might be somewhere that a picture or video is needed. Even though its not activated you can transfer the photos later with blue tooth or use the stored memory card. There might be a situation you don't have your phone on you or you let someone else-friend,kids? use it.

Donating it to our Armed Forces is a great way to breathe new life into it, as well as helping out our brave men and women who are in active combat.

If you plan to give it for reuse, it would be appreciated if you were to order a new SIM so it will be ready to activate by the next owner.

Hi, I'd really appreciate it, and pay for shipping, if you would send it to me. I just got a Net10 GSM phone and the coverage isnt as good as the CDMA. I've spent my money on this one but I could transfer the $50 that I just started and would otherwise lose if I returened the phone.

Contact me by email here. I hope you can do it. Thank you so much.

The Sam T401g is also a gsm phone, not cdma. So it won"t do be any better for you than your current phone.

A Sam T401G just sold on ebay for $55 ($50 + $5 shipping). If you are in the habit of throwing $50 in the trash, please tell me what trashcan you use and when you are planning to do it, and I'll be there.

Real Life Dictionary: Cell Phone. A fancy term for mobile answering machine.
