Not a lot of activity today. Anybody hear anything new?
What is this non online activities they are referring to?
Are people expecting leaks to start appearing now?
You missed my point. If Firefox were running inside WebTop and WebTop was actually another OS running BESIDE Android, then Android wouldn't be able to kill Firefox. It wouldn't even know it existed.
The article you keep referencing says nothing about whether WebTop can or can't be killed. It also says nothing about WebTop 'reserving' any set amount of RAM for itself. Therefore, to say that 1Gb is not enough given the inclusion of WebTop is pure speculation.
Webtop can't be killed. Did you not read and understand the article? Its a Linux based OS that runs alongside Android. How do you think webtop runs? Certainly not on a spare battery. They have partitioned memory and allocated resources to run it.
Alongside, underneath, on top of, whatever, the point is that the Bionic and Atrix for that matter are resource hungry handsets.
This is not to say that the Bionic is a bad phone. I'm just saying I don't want webtop on my phone period. Some people have a real need or use for it. Some just like it. I don't. Its bloat IMHO.
When the phone is rooted, can't that software be removed?
No pics yet guys. Sorry.
Russell, any pictures coming within a few weeks?
The problem, then, is that the bootloader is expected to be locked or encrypted, AFAIR.
Apparently my ability to read and comprehend English pales in comparison to you. This is the page I believe everyone points to whenever someone dares to ask if WebTop is really that bad:
http://developer.motorola.com/docsto...tion-overview/
I'd love for you to point out where that tell me that WebTop is a Linux OS running beside Android. I am not saying your wrong, as I don't know if it is or not, just that that info is NOT on that web page.
Also, I never said that WebTop could be killed. I was merely stating that I find it hard to believe Android would even know about a process running in another OS, even a vitualized one running inside of Android, let alone be able to kill it.
I'm on my phone but check out this article. It explains (not in great detail) a little more about the webtop enviroment. I think it will give you a clearer picture.
