One source that I talked to said last week that the Targa hopefully will be out by (or before) August. So keep your fingers crossed.

I doubt a quad-core phone this year. Nvidia just doesn't have it enough together that their chips will quickly go into a phone, there will be development time tagged onto the end.
If there is anything I would guess a tablet someone rushed out.

One other thing, in Android there really isn't an advantage of quad-core over dual core. The small increase in power doesn't equal the power consumption increase.

Watch my words, the dual core phones next year will be better than any quad-core phones (and there will be some). Actually, I can say that for 2013 as well (although other advancements may allow manufacturers to claim it is quad-core).

If you want to be a really informed consumer when you purchase you will need to ignore the labels on the box and see how well the phone actually performs. And not those stupid benchmarks people like to use, Linpack and Quadrant only work if both phones have the same peripherals (for example the same display with the same resolution)


And since this is a Targa thread. Targa will be out before the Quad-core processors are available.

To be fair, most programs for a DESKTOP can't utilize the advantage that a quad core CPU will bring. Looking forward to what the Targa will look like, and how it will perform.

If your referring to @DroidBionic, I don't think that account has ever been verified to be an official Motorola rep.

Though there's also that Costco document that shows the 5/12 release date, but I'm leaning toward the opinion that it's just an old document and that all this Targa/Bionic talk is for real.

Secondly if wnrussell said its been scrapped that's all I need to hear. There's no doubt in my mind who has the correct info on this whole ordeal. I'm not naive but he's got a perfect batting average. Nuff said.

So now what? Is the BIONIC delayed to make it the Targa? I can't believe they'd release the "old" BIONIC, then release the Targa a couple months later.

So that means that Verizon has either 1) given up on Etna BIONIC and are going to Targa BIONIC or 2) delaying BIONIC AND Targa (likely 6-8month later).

I REALLY hope it's the 1st one...but maybe I'm missing something.

Targa is a code name. This phone could be released as the Bionic and almost no one would know it was not the Etna.
