So now we're hearing that not only will this phone have OMAP4, but it may also have a gen2 LTE radio? Meaning significantly better battery life? Or is that complete speculation? I wasn't aware the gen2 radios had been approved yet...

I just tried out the charge, tbolt, and the revolution. Revolution feels far superior to both the tbolt and charge. Way snappier and more responsive. 4g feels quicker and the camera seems quicker and crisper. I might have to pick one of these up to get grandfathered into unlimited data till the bionic comes out

Next generation LTE chips would be worth waiting a while for. Any clues as to the CPU speed?

Winston has stated unequivocally that it won't be 1.5GHz. kbman's post sounds, to me, like a confirmation of OMAP4430. That would mean 1.0GHz. But that is a great SoC. Although real world usage is most important, there are some good dual-core tests and comparisons, including OMAP4430, if you are interested, here: http://www.anandtech.com/show/4179/t...imus-3d-tested

I believe Winston also said something about the clock speed of the processor not making much of a difference. So I'm thinking that a 1GHz dual-core TI chip will be plenty. I also think that the biggest advantage to a 2nd gen LTE radio is decrease in phone thickness (totally speculation though, I could be way off the mark). Either way, I'm still excited for the Bionic to come out, whenever that day may be.

...yeah, ti-omap is a real great performer. It barely edged out the tegra 2, and that's actually a 1 year old chip (Tegra was supposed to be released in Q1 of 2010.) The only upgrade of omap is the dual channel memory, which explains the performance advantage. That's it. The Apple A5 will eat it alive, and even the dual-core snapdragon ( MSM8660) out this fall will best the omap by a wide margin.

So hooray for a worse SoC! Thanks Motorola, I didn't know that the bionic can get any worse!

Tegra obviously doesn't work well with moto devices for whatever reason

From everything that has been said it is not Moto, but the 1st Gen LTE radio that tegra doesn't play nice with.

I'd be more inclined to agree if the droid x 2 wasn't such a dog

Is there any chance the qHD screen on the Bionic won't be the same ****** PenTile as the Atrix or X2? Samsung finally learned its lesson about PenTile with the introduction of Super AMOLED Plus, but why is Moto making the same mistake? Isn't OMAP still preferable to Tegra 2, then? Obviously next gen Snapdragon could be better, but if the OMAP 4430/40 are the best thing on the market right now, how is that a negative?

Slim chance that this will be released before the tiered pricing comes out?
