I remember seeing online somewhere a (leaked?) update road map from HTC saying that the Thunderbolt will get ICS in either Q1 or Q2 of this year. I think I saw this on droid-life.com, but I don't remember, and I'm too lazy to search for it right now. But yeah, I don't think they'll leave the Thunderbolt in the dust just yet.

If an official version isn't released, you can be assured that a ROM will be available (if they don't already exist).

I'm looking to pick up an inexpensive smartphone. I like the Thunderbolt, and it's one of the lower priced units right now. Is this a safe phone that won't be obsolete in a few more months. I tend to keep a phone for 2 years or more!

Well, that depends on where you get your phone. If you're willing to go third party, you can get a Rezound for < $80.

I just pulled a software update.

    Software version shows 2.11.605.19 710RD

It's not ICS, but it's supposed to fix the flaky hotspot and other "enhancements."

    So far, so good.

Can anyone recommend a compatible set of bluetooth stereo headphones that will work with the Thunderbolt? Looking for something that can playback music AND make phone calls.

If you looking for more of a headset instead of stereo headphones, I love my plantronics Voyager HD. Really good battery life and I can listen to music while on the go as well effortlessly. The voice commands definitely are a nice touch as well.

So at long last, the update to Android 4.0.4 ICS is being sent out starting today. I wonder if anyone still owns this phone?!

I still carry my ThunderBolt in my left pocket. Overall, it's the best smartphone I've owned. After reading the linked article, I would say you couldn't give me enough money to let them do that to my device.

I am loving this update! At long last, my Thunderbolt runs without a hitch. No connectivity issues, and because it doesn't overheat using WiFi hotspot mode while charging the battery (as my Samsung "GNex" does), it is actually--and I cant believe I'm actually typing this--the T-Bolt is the better and MORE reliable Hotspot. Wow!
