I wonder how the Obama Congress will deal with this, since Cingular/AT&T wireless, Sprint and Nextel, were all allowed to merge under the Bush administration.
I hope the democratic govt will block this.

THIS SUCKS!

The Obama Congress that you speak of has the Republicans controlling the House by a wide margin, and the Democrats controlling the Senate, by a very slim margin.
Though in reality I doubt very much it would matter which party was truly in control, since both sides would allow this deal to go through.
Congress is now split between the two parties. I think you can expect a stalemate on any Congressional action. The Obama Administration, namely the FCC and FTC and Justice Department, may have something to say about this, but I wouldn't count on it. The deal will go through. AT&T will have to make some promises and get rid of some bandwidth that it really doesn't need. That's about it. As I said in another thread, the issue now - to me, at least - is who is going to get the bandwidth that AT&T-Mobile sheds? Will they be a real competitor?
This isn't the end of the world here. I had AT&T before the Cingular buyout then the merger back to AT&T I loved the network but it just didn't work in my house. T-Mobile gives me 5 bars in my basement so it just made sense to switch.
T-Mobile's pricing is good for the grandfathered plans and customer service is great.
Short term I doubt anything's going to change much. I think when contracts are up and you renew we'll lose some of the great plans we have so pay full price or get a new plan it usually comes out the same either way.
I'm excited that coverage should be better and I would pay a little more (not a lot) for that.
This merger should be allowed to happen, it is not a monopoly... but... it sucks.
And you guys shouldn't expect political parties to block companies from operating on the free market..
I don't want an iPhone... I want my all you can eat data plan. Not some data capped AT&T thing..
Oh well..
It should be interesting to say the least...
Looks like no hspa+ 42 or 84. Hello lte.
You know 2gb caps are bound to come. They stink.
I'm out, bye AT&Trash
