XDA Developers have already started porting the Arc's Gingerbread firmware onto the X10 as well.
OMG im in shock..Must be an early Aprils fool LOL
I sold my X10a to get the HTC Desire because of SE not upgrading past 2.1. I did like the phone (especially the camera). Interesting development.
I am unbelievably excited, Android2.1 is restricting the X10's true potential, i have been running a custom Froyo ROM on my X10 and just can't believe how powerful this beauty realy is, glad SE changed their minds, the X10 is still a very well specd phone and holds its own in the crowd.![]()

so when they say "We plan to bring an upgrade to Android Gingerbread for the XperiaTM X10 to generic trade kits end Q2 / early Q3 this year" does that mean it will work with our rogers x10a phones?
what does generic trade kits mean?
It means non-branded phones
If your phone is branded to rogers do not expect to ever get this OS..Do what i did flash it to the Generic NA firmware so you will get the update!
would you be able to point me in the right direction to get my x10a debranded so i can get this update once its available?
would my rogers setting be messed up or would i run into any problems if i were to load up a na firmware?
so would a mobilicity x10 get the upgrade or how about one from ncix??
A friend of mine is a manager at a Mobi corporate store and he was telling me that the X10's are getting the update and it is being tested already.
i sure hope it works because a girl i talked to in one of the stores said i wouldn't work because it was making the nexus one crash
http://blogs.sonyericsson.com/produc...inside-xperia/I’ve seen lots of questions around the previously announced upcoming Gingerbread update for the Xperia™*X10. The work is progressing well and I Xperia™*X10. The work is progressing well and I hope to have final confirmation on what features etc it wil contain within short and then do a blog post about it covering your most frequently asked questions. One thing I can confirm already now is that Facebook inside Xperia currently is planned to come to the Xperia™ X10 too. that Facebook inside Xperia currently is planned to come to the Xperia™ X10 too.

Newbie question:
I just got an X10 from AT&T; it still has 1.6 on it. :-( Is there a way to install the "custom Froyo ROM" or "Generic NA firmware" mentioned above using a Mac running Mac OS X? I was unable to upgrade it (to 2.1, which just became available for AT&T-branded X10s) using my old laptop running Windows XP, even with 'help' from SE via chat. Perhaps my laptop is too old (the USB ports are 1.1) or the X10 is defective (a refurb I bought directly from AT&T that case damage shows clearly had been dropped a few times).
I'm thinking of installing Windows XP in a VMware VM (on my MacBook Pro) just so I can try again; what a PITA. Both PC Companion and Update Service.
It seems like it would be smarter to debrand it, as it'll surely be a LONG time after Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) is released for the X10 that it is available for AT&T-branded X10s. If I debrand it, it should be easy to upgrade to 2.1, and to 2.3 when it comes out for the X10.
It's a refurb; I want to act quick so I know if it's defective before the 30-day warranty runs out.

AT&T won't be upgrading the X10 to Gingerbread.

NexusOne gets Android 2.2.2 update, still no Gingerbread
