How to set files as ringtones?

After a long digging I was finally able to put JPG and WMA files on my Keitai, but I just I just can't set those WMA files as ringtones. I checked the specs and my Keitai supports WMA and SD-Audio formats. I'm totally new to this SD-Audio so I had to use WMA. :\ Anyone knows how to do this? I didn't expect putting simple files would be a pain when it comes to Japanese phones.

Please help.

I assume it's a docomo?

AFAIK you have to set MLDs as ringtones... search the forums

Is MLD format like WMA/MP3? What program do you use to convert them?

no, it's a format from Mars but developed in Jupiter

, j/k , MLD format and they can't exceed a specific size, look around the forums i think i did read about ringtones somewhere here, i like the standard tones that come with the phone, that or im a simple person, why would you like to have a rihanna or something else blowing from the phone?

There's a size limit i think, which means you'll have to stick with mono and low bitrate. IMO you're better off sticking to the default ringtones.

Someone else'll have to chip in to tell us what program to use to convert (WAV2MLD seems to be popular) bc I just use the default ringtones. (yeah im boring lol)

I would prefer any instrumental music or classical rather than Rihanna tbh but I would rather have my own customized ringtone. ^^

Low size huh, seems like I have to do more digging. Do you at least know where to put and rename the files? Hard to believe that the Japanese are so strict that they have to take out MP3 and other format for copyright purposes.

By low size we mean 100kB in most cases. Which means at a decent sampling rate (?) you get 12~13 seconds of sound.

Cut song or whatever noise into a size you like, convert to wav file. Then follow on-screen instructions in an example like this video.f

I thought the limit was approximately 300kB. Search IonNuke's Channel on YouTube, he was a video on how to make ringtones. It's in chinese, but it's quite easy to follow - even if you can't understand it.

Isn't 300k only for Softbanks? I think docomos are different (100k seems about right).

They're strict because they'd rather you purchase songs and ringtones (which are of unlimited size) thru their network/music service lol. Just that we can't do that outside Japan (not you martin!

Hmm... not sure. I think the custom ringtone I made was close to ~250kB. I'll confirm later.

Whew, finally got it to work. iMelody (or Mfi?) files are recognized but there's no sound at all. :\ Really weird, however normal MIDI files works. I thought I was stuck with the default tones for a while what a relief. I guess that's better than nothing.

So funny that Keitai's have such advanced features but can't accept MP3's. ^^

If you convert them to MLDs they work just fine.....

(on F-01A) They can be recycled through all keitais since its MLD format that the phone understands.

Keitais worked with MP3s.... my old crappy Docomo SO905iCS read them. But that was old and crappy 905 series.
