    Nokia Astound thread

Is anyone planning on getting this? It looks like it will require a smartphone data plan unlike the nuron though... Looks like a nice replacement for the nuron though.

After going round and round on online chat, it seems that the Astound will require a smartphone data plan. But I'm still holding on that the CSR I chatted with was misinformed.

Man, I thought this phone was supposed to have UMA on it. Looks like it doesn't though.

It might require a smartphone plan if you get new service or upgrade in person, but it might still be compatible with tzones and web2go. I hope so!

Well we know new users will have to have at least the $10 200MB plan but about heavy web users I guess they have to get the $30 plan? Also, what about us long term Web2Go users? If they don't let us carry that web plan over....Who would spend $89 after $50 rebate on this phone plus $30-$20 on web service? Could get the CLIQ 2, Defy, HD7 for $99 after rebate. Or could wait until the N8 drops down to about $300 off contract.

This is a cool phone but the deal would be great if they offered it like they did the Nuron with the Web2Go...then later the buy one get one free. It will be interesting to see how well these move.

I bought the Astound. Very nice phone. I have the $5 web2go and it works with my plan after I changed the APN.

Are you still getting 3G speeds after changing the APN?

I went to tmobile yesterday for a test run before buying it. It was nice bug lagged through the menu, I even cleared out all running apps in the background. It was a nice phone though liked the camera, 3g speed, clear & loud calls, widgets & screen size. So I'm deciding on HD2 or Astound.... hmmm....

Did you buy the phone at retail cost or did you upgrade online?

Totally depends on what you want. I think the HD2 will have more apps but the Astound hardware looks to be a pretty good phone. One difference is HD2 = HSPA 7.2 and the Astound = HSPA 10.2. Unfortunately, Tmo took WCDMA 1900 out otherwise it would have been compatible with ATT, should we need that in the future.
