I use ES File Explorer to back up my apps to SD (I was using Appmonster until I learned yesterday that the file explorer I already have does the same thing!). Is there any reason some apps won't let you back them up? I selected all and all backed up except one "Allrecipes.com". It backed up all other apps (even system apps and Amazon freebies). Not a big deal since I can always download 1 app if I ever have an issue, it must have an internal lock or something. This is a nice way to have all apps backed up, and when your SD is backed up to a PC, they're all there to reinstall later if you need to get rid of some to save phone memory.
Titanium backup is the best. Gotta be rooted to make use of any backup apps. The reason some won't backup without root is copy protection. If you didn't already know, it is extremely easy to pirate on Android by just copying the .apk. The reason Google changed their refund policy is because the popular approach to piracy on Android was to buy the app you wanted then within 24 hours to make a backup of the .apk and then uninstall it to get a refund. After you got your money back you could side-load the app.
