well, i'm not sure if this will help any of you, but I would also constantly get those stalls on my samsung mifi. Today I went into the settings and changed my profile from "secure" to "secure auto" and I haven't had that problem yet. Something you might want to try.

I am having all sorts of trouble with mine. It loses connectivity with the computer and I am having trouble rendering pages sometimes. My Novatel is coming Monday, so hopefully it will be a nice improvement.

I think you will be very pleased with the Novatel.

I have both and the Novatel is much more stable.

    Verizon Released a firmware upgrade.

Today I got an email recommending that I upgrade the firmware. The new software is revision EC31. The main benefit they specified was additional roaming capabilities.

James Kendrick (of JK on the Run fame) wrote a nice article comparing the Samsung and Novatel wifi hotspot devices over on ZDNet. He gives a slight edge to the Novatel device due to their long time experience with this category of technology, but otherwise he rates them as essentially equivalent.

At this point I would suggest to everyone that it is better to get the Novatel over the Samsung, due to the data issues.

I purchased the Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot SCH–LC11 at full price to replace my MIFI 2200 two weeks ago and it has not worked properly for more than a couple of hours at the time since. It keeps losing the internet connection with just one laptop and loses everything with two laptops connected. After numerous calls to tech support I finally got someone to say they would overnight me a new one. I loved the MIFI 2200 but wanted more speed. Not to sure about this device but will post more when I get the new one.

just an update, have not had the disconnection issue since I did this. For those of you having the problem, maybe try this out.

One interesting lesson I'm getting out of this widespread LTE outage is that my SCH-LC11 isn't handling 3G very well. My iPhone is holding a fairly steady 3G signal, but my LC11 is providing me a low end 1X experience (~50kbps).

An even more annoying lesson learned with the 4G outage: I switched my hotspot account back to my trusty MiFi 2200 during yesterday's 4G failure (so I could keep on working) - did the usual online activation trick which worked fine. As I completed the device switchover, I observed a pop-up window which warned me that my 4G device SIM card would become invalid after 90 days if I didn't reactivate it within that time. "No problem," I say to myself, "how long could this outage last, anyway?"

Fast forward to today: After confirming the 4G network was back up here in DC, I hop back onto the web to reactivate my LC-11. It's a little different this time because I not only need to enter the IMEI (not MEID or ESN interestingly), but I am also prompted for my SIM card number. After entering the SIM card number, a message pops up telling me to call Verizon to complete the changeover.

What Happened: It turns out when replacing a 4G device with a 3G device online, the SIM card is invalidated immediately (not after 90 days). My only recourse is to order a new SIM card or to swing by a store to get a replacement SIM card. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I had the same experience. The annoying thing is that not every store will hand out a new sim. Tech support called 3 stores before getting one that agreed to provide me a new sim.

It took me over one and one half hours today to get the new SIM card. No one in the store seemed to have any idea what to do. I actually ended up helping them on their own computer to get the new SIM card accepted. Bad show Verizon!

This guy went ignored (no disrespect to anyone intended) but he seems to have a logical fix to the webpage stall that makes a lot of sense. Seeing that this is likely the problem, I might pickup the Sammy 4G LTE Hotspot as I found it for a DIRT-cheap price with a two year contract.
